Default National vs. Western Global Airlines

Got a buddy from the military who has offers from both. Just wondering which one would be the better choice.

Thanks in advance!

Neither, there's much better places to be in the ACMI world, and way better places to be in general.

FLAIMBAIT ALERT ! Possible ACMI bashing. Popcorn ready: checked !

Is your buddy capable to read and write or why is this individual not able to get online and submit a simple question ?

If he could read and write, he wouldn't be interested in these two carriers.

National. Then tell your buddy to join APC so he can learn that Atlas is the ACMI carrier to be it.

FWIW, IDK about Western Global, but the 200% overtime at National had me exceed 38K as an FO for just one month of work.

Will Western Global pickup any of the MD's or at least parts from the FedEx divestment plan in 2024, or focus on other equipment? Just curious.

I have friends working at National and yes, the money there is real. But please don't forget to mention how many 30 hour duty days you are doing or how many times your company is scheduling you for minimum rest between long trips. If money is the priority, National is definitely hard to beat.

Talking The real answer is

Neither of those places and more so, most if not all ACMIs. Sorry, but it's true. One week it's one with poor conditions, the next it's another losing a contract. Read about Amerijet this week-Yikes! National and Western Global are the bottom of the barrell sorry, but they just are! You will work really hard and be really fatigued for decent money because the pay is low. You will be lied to and abused, hard! Here's an easy question, why does National keep advertising for B747 DECs, all the time? Go look up the fleets and see where you'll be going. Climb aboard an old clapped out BCF, sleep in dump hotels, try to sleep during the day, min rest, ride in economy, eat like crap all the time, get home and wait for your next adventure.

Tell your friend he honestly does not what he's getting himself into. Wait till he has to fly with all those Crocodile Dundees. If you've never been locked in a tube for 18+days with Paul Hogan, you'll wanna quit flying, he'll see!

Apply to the regional, take the bonus, get the 121 hours, upgrade and move on to the majors. ORRRRRRR, go to one of the decent fractionals. Anything is better than National or Western Global.

Sorry to be so blunt.

Merry Christmas

As someone who was at western for a year and a half (always have to put the caveat I liked the people I flew with) this is exactly what should happen. National is no better. If your “buddy” wants ACMI international, Atlas or Omni unless he is unemployable at any of these. Then sure why not National and Western are cut from the same cloth. Doesn’t matter what he picks.
