FEDEX Furlough

The bottom line is Flight Ops management is being pressured to contain/reduce cost ( I would assume by upper management of Express & Corp). As long as the cost to furlough ( by their analysis ) exceeds the cost to retain "excess" pilots there will be no furlough. In the meantime we can expect to see every attempt made to push as much of the cost of retaining this "excess" onto the pilots prior to a furlough. This will continue until the business model improves or their number crunchers decide it makes economic sense to furlough. This is exactly where we are right now. Anyone who thinks a public relations debacle will ensue if we furlough is mistaken. Anyone who has listened to Fred Smith over the years knows he has always stressed taking care of our customers or they will go elswhere.

Hmm, so maybe the title of your thread should be Fedex NO furlough?

You obviously know nothing about writing thread titles or newspaper headlines. It's all about shock value.

Can we stop starting Furlough threads until when (if) one actually happens?

p-s-p

Maybe they are not furloughing to keep in line with the People - Service - Profit line of thinking...ROTFLMAO :D. Taken right off the FedEx Careers website:

The core philosophy that governs every activity at FedEx is People-Service-Profit (PSP): Take care of our people; they in turn will deliver impeccable service demanded by our customers, who will reward us with the profitability necessary to secure our future. People-Service-Profit: These three words are the very foundation of Federal Express.

It doesn't take a building inspector to notice that large crack in the foundation.

Very true, so maybe the thread title should be something like

NO FDX furloughs EXCEPT for GOFRTRS... :D
