FDX-MEC Elections

5 names in the ring at this point (2 chairman, 2 vc, 1 st). I think SS would make a great MEC Chairman.

Anyone else? Bueller?

USMCFDX 02-12-2009 12:46 PM

I do not really like the options of the dudes I know. Wish there was a choice 'none of the above'. Doesn't really matter since I do not get a vote.

TimoC 02-12-2009 12:56 PM

Same dudes, different chairs.

I went through training with SS and know him well. He is an outstanding choice for MEC Chairman. He represents change from the current MEC and will be straight-forward, truthful, and represent the whole pilot group. He has tremendous experience, always professional, and without a doubt one of the smartest pilots on our crew force.
You may not have a direct vote, but if you want to impact who our next MEC Chairman is, you better get in touch with your Rep who does have a vote and tell him who you want!
No disrespect to other candidates, but SS is that guy IMHO.

I have to agree, SS, TM and SM should be the overwhelming choice. JAGPLT got this one right.......NO INCUMBENTS!!!!!

Just did, thanks. I guess I should check email before APC.

Message Line

The list of candidates can be found under the MEC Special Message Line dated 12 Feb 09.

FWIW, there was a recall petition circulated over one year ago to recall DW and DM. Why DM? It was obvious (to some) he was going to be the next MEC Chairman......

We can keep the status quo or try something different. I do not have faith in our Block Reps to elect someone not in the current inner circle.

We can be certain that they will not elect someone who is not running. :)

Lindy 02-12-2009 01:48 PM

That's funny......You are right.

Cosnuts 02-13-2009 11:32 PM

SS is a smart, straight forward, stand up guy. I also believe he'd be a great MEC Chairman, and a pretty clean break from the past. I'm glad to see him throw his hat in the ring. If you feel the same, let your Rep know.

Or, if you really like the last couple of years let your Rep know that too because there's another choice. Either way, if you care, let your Rep know.

Cos

Amazing how folks are shying away from this provocative thread...........what game is afoot?...........Hmmmmmmm?

Daniel Larusso 02-14-2009 05:17 PM

We can be certain that they will not elect someone who is not running.
While that is obviously true from a technical standpoint, sometimes there are others who are willing to run, but only if they are assured of getting the votes. They keep their candidacy quiet until they area successful at horse-trading enough votes and then pop-in at the last minute for the win. Not much chance for the peanut gallery to comment in those situations.

what game is afoot?...........

In silly season you never know.

AerisArmis 02-14-2009 08:02 PM

However you feel, you owe it to everyone to let your block rep know your position on this. We will either get DW's protege' or new blood. If you feel strongly one way or the other, let your voice be heard.

jagplt 02-18-2009 10:03 AM

Wonder if there are any additions to the mix here. Seems like a long time since we've heard something on a very important subject..

Pssst....look out your back window, there is a black helicopter circling:cool:

Micro 02-18-2009 11:02 AM

I hope all who wish to run throw their hat in the ring. I will echo the statements of many here, while the MEC votes for the officers, it should be your duty to let your Reps (or all the reps for that matter) know who you wish to hold our officer positions.

Albief15 02-18-2009 12:07 PM

A block 7 letter will be out shortly that will also remind you to let your block rep know your thoughts. Its also okay to lobby the other reps too. I've gotten about a dozen calls and emails so far, and I am interested in hearing from more of you.

DLax85 02-18-2009 03:19 PM

Micro / Albief15 -

Fully understand why you guys can't post often...and glad to see you're both still lurking.

Thanks! :)

FLMD11CAPT 02-18-2009 03:30 PM

Regardless of how you feel or which candidate you favor, it is imperative that you let ALL the block reps know what you want to happen. Yes, the MEC elects the officers, but they were elected by us to represent them. Sometimes it takes a reminder that they represent us. E-mail, call or visit with them when you see them.
