Default Apartment Prices in ANC?

Anyone have an idea of 1-2 bedroom apartment prices in ANC? Preferably downtown (I like bars.)

I plan on being in town not enough to warrant my own house (wouldn't want one anyway in these times) but too much to be in a crash pad with several other dudes.

Anyone rent a similar type place? I'd like a 2 bedroom / 2 bath so that a bud can use the other room as his crash pad, as well as not poop in my toilet.

Thanks for any info.

Take the price of a nice apartment in SDF and multiply it X2. That will get you a place that won't get you mugged in the parking lot. If you want something nice downtown, multiply by 3.

Never been to SDF so that doesn't help much.

Never been mugged either, and I've lived in East San Diego, The South Side of Chicago, Newark, Subic Bay and Bangok. So not worried about that either. I almost welcome it, as long as its right before a trip so I don't have to go work (as long as I don't lose any teeth too)

Still, some idea of what rent would be downtown would be appreciated.

Have you thought about doing a search on Craigslist? That would give you a basic idea about apartment prices......

About a year ago a non-pilot friend was renting a 2-bedroom apartment in the $900/month range but he said the place was in a pretty bad shape (leaking pipes, etc).

He liked it because it was a month to month lease but he said if he were to move back to ANC he'd be looking for something in a much better condition (and probably more expensive).

I agree with all that. CList is a great read. The eastside is cheaper but is pretty shady, though it will help with my plans to open a meth lab to help pay the bills if I'm on the street. Rentals near downtown/bootlegger's cove and the greater Turnagain arm (Northern lights west of Minnesota) are tougher to come buy and are more expensive, with Turnagain being the cheapest of the three. You are looking at least 1k minimum for a remotely respectable 1bdrm place or larger. Anything below that is horrible. Just my .02.

I have a 4-plex half of which is set up as two crash pads, your own bed for 250. My 1 BR goes for 695, and the 2 BR goes for 895. Located near the intersection of Jewel Lake and Raspberry in a quiet culdesac. Have one opening on the crash pad side and the 1 BR is vacant now as well.

Hope this helps.

I like the idea of Wasilla and moving in with Sarah's unmarried daughter without child
