What's going on in Ontario that warrants more F/O's?

Wigwags 05-08-2006 03:38 PM

Sounds good Dog. Any word on actual dates in June?

Menlo flying. A few new gateways have opened, like LRD and TUS, and new routes such as an extra 767 SAN-SDF run, for example. Most of the recent ONT captain openings were awarded to ONT FOs, so that also explains the shortage.

didn't LRD and TUS end up in the Z? I talked with one of our schedule types and he said that our increased productivity rules that the company is expecting in the new contract mean that it makes sense to add crews out in ONT

Sounds like managaement changed their mind with displacing probationary engineers to ONT and MIA. I heard there were 17 f/o openings in ONT and 8 in MIA. Wouldn't be surprised to see additional hiring on the panels as well in case we sign a t/a and the over 60 guys bolt.

Just noticed that there were always about 115 fo's and 120 Capt's in ONT now there are only 103 with 130 Captains. So, they look like they are short about 20 or so.

No way a T/A from the current N/C, E/B would pass.

Maybe so, but there's also a few ONT lines with them.

Bolting

More like 154 guys bolting....

Let's see.. pretty senior pilots now sitting reserve sideways on the diesel eight doing boring domestic stuff. Not quite as exciting as international Captain stuff, and you've got all the doom and gloom at the Looneytoon sort every evening.

The real questionis, how is the company going to MANAGE the exodus once the ink is dry on a TA? You can't suddenly hire 160 FEs. That's why they've decided to overstaff the position for the past three years?

I agree

I agree, as a sideways sitter on the 8 myself, I only hope they realize this. DC-8 S/O training takes over 2 months.

I think I could handle all this for 100K +
