I am fairly new to the IPA, but I belonged to ALPA for a decade so I've seen much worse than the IPA and BM.
Read what I've been saying: I would prefer to be furloughed rather than to accept concessions.
So jungle, if we have furloughs will you do your part to take care of your fellow IPA pilots on the street?

I will act as the contract I signed specifies, how about you?

I haven't touched a crackpipe in years.
So what's the alternative to having the IPA speak for us? I've already emailed them my thoughts and suggestions, have you?
I'm hopeful that we can mitigate a furlough if we work together. What are our other choices?

There is NO reason for the IPA to speak for us with company when in concerns our CONTRACT. UPS is not dumb. If they want to save $$$, then do it. But within the parameters of our working agreement. They know where they can save money.
But instead they throw out hook and see if we bite. And our idiot Leader has. He should say thanks but no thanks. UPS WILL NOT accept our inputs. Watch and Learn. They our not going to offer early buy outs or lower construction caps, etc.
Because these items costs money and increase manning. We need to be talking about helping out the furlough guys. and thats it. Internally. Because UPS will park the DC8's. And may I add, what is the percentage of people here who will alter our contract for UPS? 1%!! And we have Bob miller going against the memberships will and thinking about coming to us for a Vote if need be!!
He needs to resign now. Or recalled. I dont care how, but he needs to go with his ignorance towards the membership and our years of work since 1988.

I agree with no concessions, but no one knows what BM and the IPA are going to talk about on 3/11. In his video, he said numerous times that they are going to talk about voluntary items. To me, that meant voluntary leaves, etc. Looking at this from another perspective: if the IPA didn't at least meet with UPS (and I'm not talking necessarily about concessions, but a face to face meeting), one of our could have thrown that back in the face of the IPA saying that they weren't represented by the union. I know it is a stretch, but maybe they had to at least do this part. Don't forget, not all of the bottom 300 visit APC. Just the most vocal part!

Actually I was. But it's not the same guy from the early 90's. I dont know what happen. Just blows me away. He has gotten weak in his later years and to me he just doesn't Lead. He goes with whatever has the least resistance.
I personnally think he needs to be recalled. Sad, but true. Any Leader of a Union who would even think about changing a contract mid-term to save the company money needs to go. UPS made 3 billion Dollars plus!! And they laugh at us over Meaning and Intent. They laugh at us over our 400 grievances.
Problem is, we also have a weak EB right now. None of them have the guts to stand up to him, expcept maybe one.

Maybe we should wait until the meeting has happened? Your rope will keep until then.
What if the meeting goes something like this:
UPS: OK, where's that $50m coming back to us?
BM: We've got 150 guys who want to take MIL and PLOA, and here's slides on how to save an additional $45m on top of that (all the great ideas everyone has sent in so far). Savings for you will be $70m+.
UPS: No, we want to lower wages and we don't give a good GD about your other ideas.
BM: OK, thanks for your time. Here's some gloves to keep the sand out of your bloody knuckles. Goodbye.
