DHL talking to Astar & Abex?
DHL, which has been trying since last year to hire UPS to sort and fly DHL packages in the US, says it is talking again with its current cargo-flying partners, ABX Air and ASTAR Air Cargo.
The Dayton Daily News reports that DHL began talking with ABX and ASTAR after an agreement to negotiate exclusively with UPS expired at the end of January.
"DHL has let us know they believe they will now need us through September to keep doing what we are doing. That is the only definite information we have from them," ABX Air spokeswoman Beth Huber said today.
It is unclear what role ABX will be allowed to fill after that, Huber said. DHL is ABX's biggest customer.
Meanwhile, ABX Air gave notice Thursday that it is laying off an additional 58 employees by the end of March.
Any bets on them offering some of the flying/sorting back beyond September with concessions? Could this have been their Plan B all along? After all, pretty much every company is now coming asking/demanding givebacks. So how about it Skymaster?

The employees (pilots especially) don't have many other options now, so I can see most of them willing to work for much less just to keep a paycheck coming in.
I hope you're right and they tell DHL to shove it, but I think that likely DHL will get these two companies to fly the volume for much cheaper rates. Some on here might even suggest that this was DHL's plan all along.

UPS told them to shove it up their DONKEY ass? I bet not! My guess is DHL said they would not pay the amount UPS was trying to charge knowing they could get it done alot cheaper elsewhere.

Deutsche Post DHL is being investigated as part of a probe into spying activity. Klaus Zumwinkel, former CEO who was recently found guilty of tax evasion, is thought to be at the centre of the investigation.
Reports that over 60 people were spied upon to stop the release of certain information sparked a thorough investigation. It is alleged that Deutsche Telekom bugged telephone calls of journalists and board members and eight people have so far been implicated.
Klaus Zumwinkel has already been given a two-year suspended sentence and a fine of $1.29m, but with many europeans now focused on fat-cat salaries, overly-generous pension pay-offs, and what many percieve as relatively tame punishments, more pressure is being put on authorities to weed out dubious practices than ever.
Deutsche Post headquarters was raided today as well as other addresses in Bavaria, Switzerland, Italy and Colgne. Former Deutsche Telekom CEO Kai-Uwe Ricke and has had tow proprties raided and computers have been seized as part of the investigation.
Data which revealed the names of key figures involved in tax evasion came to light last year, send a shockwave through the business community in Germany. The information is also thought to be in the hands of UK tax authorities who have confirmed that they are already investigting a number of people in the UK.
As a 22+ yr. employee, I won't be giving back a nickle.

Dunno Bobby, What kinda of concessions will the IPA give back to keep the furloughs away? Isn't that UPS's "plan B"?

Hey Skymaster do you actually own a Skymaster? I have always been intrigued by them. Apparently Cessna experimented with a rear engine turbine and no front engine version!

concessions
Skymaster....
Current polling indicates the only "concessions" the IPA is willing to grant is to canvas the membership for mil leave, early retirement and loa. There are no contract concessions under consideration.
