Default FDX - Negotiating committee meeting with MGT

Does anybody have any intel as to what happened during this meeting last week? I remember JG being dispatched by the MEC to talk "Global Strategy" with management, but never heard how that went.

It's kinda fishy to me that we heard nothing about this, yet DW gets awarded the 777. Kinda makes you think there is an agreement that was held back until this bid closed. If that's how this went down I am going to be pi$$ed.

Called or e-mailed any of your reps for an answer? Probably not. So, PM me, I'll give you my number and you can ask.

No offense Micro but the union should be putting out the info via the approved channels, we should not have to all call.

Default Yeah

Yeah Micro, what's the big secret. Is it really THAT sensitive that the Union can't put out an email saying what happened? I admitted on here and in public that JG's latest attempt at opening lines of comm with the rank and file were a welcome change from the dark room we had been in.

Don't let it stop now. I think we ALL deserve to know what the heck went down.

Talking

Having worked in "The Head Shed" before and seeing first hand how things work these threads crack me up. First of all if there was anything worth putting out it probably would have. There is absolutely NO reason to negotiate in public, which some of you think is the way to do things, but in the past has just led to chaos. Do you want the NC to tell you when they go to the crapper too? Maybe you can help them wipe. If they got a request from mgt. to have a meet do any of you actually believe they would agree to anything quickly that mgt wants without going back and deciphering what the real intent of the meeting was for? That doesn't happen in a week and sometimes takes quite some time.

Right now all I know is we have a fairly decent contract and I wouldn't be in any hurry at all to do any kind of a deal mgt wants without a LOT of consideration and thought. As a matter of fact I think it's time we turned the tables on mgt and drag out negotiations for years. Payback's a *****.

I think the beef is that any settlement now could impact a bid that just closed with most of us (DW excluded) not realizing the full impact of the bid choices. Much like the last two settlements.

Just a simple statement of "We met with mgmt. Talks are still going on. They were productive or they were not. " Would be helpful.

I agree with that, and I also agree with kls' point that there isn't much point in negotiating in public. Even if the worst is true of people's thoughts of why DW bid the triple, it isn't an actual agreement until the MEC accepts it and we ratify it. Personally, I can't see why I would change my bid for 09-02 based off an agreement that couldn't possibly be ratified or rejected before the close of that bid.

As others have said it's not always wise to negotiate in public. I may not always totally agree with this position and I do think more info needs to come out on our positions. However, sometimes we need to let the NC do it's job as directed by the MEC. These are the guys in the trenches, closest to the action and sometimes we need to take THEIR advice. All three block reps in our LEC have put out info in the past week or so and if you haven't read it I ask you to. I've only gotten ONE call on the subject and told him what I know. ONE CALL!!! I won't blow smoke up your bu$$, so call me. The NC met with the company, both sides discussed the issues and said what they wanted to say, and the company said they will get back to us later this month.
So no new news and no secrets. Nothing has "gone down" that is being hidden from the crew-force. As I said, call me ANYTIME if you have questions.
