Not mixing metaphors. Just pointing out that the operators do not make the decisions on the resources. I seem to remember going from overmanned to undermanned to overmanned (pilot wise) during one three year staff tour. "O", Flight training, or safety can throw BS flags or hold their breath and turn blue. But in the end they can either salute or fall on their swords; either way it won't change anything unless the perception of what is more economical changes.

Truly amazing

I have been involuntarily excessed out of the left seat of the MD-11. I am going to the left seat of the 757 and once checked out will get a $1,000 dollar RAISE over what I have been averaging since 4a2b started stealing our money.

So, launch a narrow-body to Reno and make more than an MD-11 driver to Dubai.

And all we do is sit and watch it happen.

It's worse than that.

The F/O on that MD-11 to Dubai is making more than the Captain on the same flight if the Captain is on reserve.

3:46 a day? YGBSM.

Don't worry, I'm sure by the time you check out in the 75, it too will be overmanned ;)

The Company pays you to sit at home unless you get tapped for a trip whereas I'm flying the line everyday I'm working. I consider that the gamble you take to sit reserve.

Yeah, sitting in a crappy Memphis crashpad, and getting called in at the last minute to do airport stby a couple of days a week is such a cakewalk. Let me guess. You live in Memphis and you're senior enough that you don't have to worry about only being able to hold a reserve line.
I'm senior enough to also hold a line, but I still think the reserves are getting hosed. The point FDXFLYR was making is that any way you cut it, the current pay structure is screwed up.

Shouldn't the name of this thread be:

"Time to turn on the heat????"

The glacial pace of 757 training reveals much about the character of those who could, if they wanted to, speed it up.

Sounds like a good question for OR. He should get this question every time he asks for comments, no matter how many times he answers it.

I remember a commander who said, "I'll take any questions except those concerning XXX."

Due to the frustration of many the first question was, "What about XXX?" The meeting went downhill from there.

Confused?

I agree on the no conspiracy comment, but I'm with Albie. AF/Navy/Marines---I just don't get how these people keep their jobs with all the bafoonery we've had in both manning and safety. Can you imagine a Chief of Safety in the military keeping his/her job with the kind of mishaps we've had? How about the cranium flesh pedaler at MPC keeping their job after completely screwing the pooch on pilot manning? We are supposed to be a Fortune 500 company. YGBSM!

Excellent point! It needs to be ON before we can turn it up. Wakeup everyone, we are being duped.

Check out the fast pace of 727 SO's that are being trained. If we truly had 800-1000 extra bodies, flt MGT should be max training the excess bid to the lower paying seats they have been awarded. I know why the are not, for one they do not have the training capacity, secondly the bids were cover for 4.A.2.B.

I agree with an earlier post that we should ask FLT Mgt at every public opportunity to explain these discrepancies. Draft Calls, Insufficient reserves, abuse of R24 into base hotel standby, line and pairing degradation...the list could go on...........
