After you do whatever it is you are going to do click on the "Bid Period Processing Summary" at the bottom of the bid period processing page. It hasn't lied to me yet and has kept me from making an error.

Thanks to everyone. Makes sense now.
See you in September (because I'm sure they'll let me drop that one R-day I'm going to have left in my line. - NOT!!!)

And, don't forget you can slide your vacation left/right as desired.

Eventually, once the slide and extension are processed, you wind up with a calendar indicating the period of time you have blocked off....including the reserve buffer days (assuming you haven't waived those periods).

One thing to remember is that the buffer period can't be moved into a different bid month.

The nice thing about the bid period prcessing summary page is it shows you roughly real time what is knocked out. The bonus 1980's dot matrix style calendar makes it truely special.

Interesting thing just happened to me with the same issue - I slid my vacation and extended it to knock out a total of 10 R days. Then I looked at my schedule last night and it magically had the remaining R-days for the month (in a block all by themselves) deleted. I didn't ask for that, but I guess they wanted to make sure I got my vacation bank down to just about zero! Won't get the payback check in Dec I was looking for, but I guess I will just have to enjoy my time off at home!:D

Seriously, I didn't know they would "help" you to clear your schedule - I figured that once you did the vac slide and extend you were finished...guess I'll dig into the contract...

I think when you have vacation they rebuild your line to reflect total R days minus total vacation days. So if you had 14 R days and requested 10 days of vacation they will knock out all your days then add 4 back during reserve line reconstruction. I think you have a chance to request where those days go during the conflict input window. But it has been a while, I could be wrong.

I'll see and post the result here!

"R" days not in conflict with vacation or buffer should remain on your schedule where they were. They will "magically" reappear after all the processing is done. I have seen this before.

This doesn't appear to be the case. I had 8 days, extended it 5 for a total of 13 (using 51:06 vacation hours).
It knocked out 13 days leaving me with 1 after the removal of the other R-day due to RLG reduction.
4 of the R-days knocked out were no where near my vacation or buffer.
Thanks to all for the help/advice.
