Default what happened?

yeah, I heard about this. That they had an engine failure and aborted, then ran off..?

anyone knows the full scoop.

Aborted takeoff at VR...Thats right VR. #2 engine compressor stalled, shot flames forward enough so the Captain saw flames out his window, so he put the acft back on the runway instead of taking it into the air. can't say I wouldn't have **** my pants and then done the same thing.

Wow, amazing video... Wonder if it could have been stopped with better runway conditions? Came close if he lost the engine at Vr.

By definition V1 is the GO/NO GO decision point unless you feel the aircraft will not fly. At Vr you go fly and work the problem out in the air. There are always exceptions (Fire) but 99.9% of the time you are better off putting the aircraft in the environment it was built for.

Well, the only exception is fire, and that is a fire in the cockpit. On most runways after V1, you are not going to get the aircraft stopped on the runway. Hope everyone was not hurt.
