You're probably correct ... but we might be able to amend the contract (during negotiations) to make it MUCH less desirable to stick around past age 60 so that maybe they decide to get a life (or maybe even a hobby) and retire. :eek::eek:

Skim, I heard(operative word) that the 777 will have two bunks that are 96" long. I remember talking to the guy who was in charge of 777 training and that is what he said. Also, no cockpit door, that was the way Air France wanted it and the fix was quite $$$$. There are I think 3 business class seats in the courier section, but I just can't remember how many or how comfy. But the price is right. If I hear different, I will update. Hope this helps.

Well ... actually, I've planned for age 60 retirement my entire career. I'll be able to afford to live on my FedEx retirement. I have lots of things I'd rather be doing than hub-turning at night and I look forward to the opportunity to pursue those interests full time. I can guarantee you that I won't work past the end of the month that my 60th birthday occurs in ...

While there is absolutely nothing wrong with the message you're trying to get across, reality is that you have to consider the source when you say it. You are a Captain and a widebody one to boot. Regardless of your relative seniority/juniority within your seat, effects on progression, etc, you're still viewed as less affected by this change than those in the right and back seats which has an effect on how what you say is perceived. It's not just a left seat thing either, you can see it between people in the right vs. back seats of the Boeing as well, especially as passover pay has trickled away. Being in the left seat, you have every right to view it much the way our CRM program works and say deal with it, I'm the leader, now follow my well dressed, well rested, always at the folder 130% prepared 3 hours before show time lead:) or you can massage the message so that it has it's desired effect. As you said there are bigger fish to fry at this point in time, but getting everybody on the same page with this and other union issues probably requires a little more finesse than we all tend to apply in our daily lives here.
