We just need to provide the controllers with an loud bell. Anytime an aircraft fails to answer after two calls, the bell is rung and everybody is good as new.

Reviving this old thread instead of starting a new one. Good news, it looks like new crew rest accommodations are coming to a cockpit near you ...

Translation: I will run it by my pals at A4A and make sure it is not too expensive first. We would not want improved safety at the cost of executive compensation or dividends.

There was a controller at Kansas City Center, back in the early 80's that had a fog horn. He was calling an a/c with no response and told all on frequency to turn our volumes down for 10 seconds. Next thing I knew, the a/c was back on frequency. This happened again, about 3 weeks later, and I DIDN'T turn down the volume. The sound of a fog horn coming through my Dave Clarks' almost defend me!

From MaydayMark's most recent post: "Coroner Mary Hassell said Friday that Erhardt died after an epileptic seizure, despite regularly taking medication. She told an inquest one possibility was that "because Moritz had been working so hard his fatigue was a trigger for the seizure that killed him."

OK.. That's it! From now on She's on top.
