UPS and ATLAS

So I'm chatting with my friend tonight and I tell him about my path to one day getting on w/ UPS. I told him hopefully by the time I'm 30(25 now), I would be at ATLAS on my way to UPS or already there. He then telsl me if I go to ATLAS I'm pretty much killing all possibility of a job at UPS. He did not elaborate as to why working at Atlas would ruin my chances with UPS. Now is there some rivalry or something going?

Keep your friends close, but your enemies closer.

Beware when it comes to references... sounds like your so-called friend is a typical back stabber.

I have never heard of any carrier that UPS won't hire from, we hire regional, freight , ex major , etc. You are twenty five and if you can keep flying five years from now, if , we get a recovery you should be in a fairly good position.

I would avoid being too carrier-specific in your career goals. There's no telling where this business wil be in 5-10 years, or 5-10 years after that.

My interview group was mainly freight dogs and Air Force. The class was all freight dogs, I was the only who made it through that didn't have any prior 747 time. They had hired a bunch of regional pilots a few years ago, from what I heard, they had a hard time adjusting from 3 on 4 off and 4 on 3 off to 20 on 10 off.
