Got a UPS interview!

Hey guys and gals,
I just got news that I am invited for a UPS interview. Any updated info about the interview would be greatly appreciated. Most of the stuff I've seen off other web sites are dated back awhile. I am very excited and nervous. Again, thanks for any help.

Whoa! You must be a chick. According to half the people on here, only women and minorities get called and hired by UPS. If you are a guy, how did you manage to slip through the cracks?

In any case, good luck!

That was actually the case as far as interviews went at UAL back in the 90's...talked to a lot of guys who sent in their $75 and never heard anything back from HR. With the number of applicants they had back then, I'm sure that financed one or two future golden parachutes for some of their executives.

This whole pool thing is wrong, IMO. We had an Air Wisconsin guy on our js out of PHL the other nite who has been in the pool for a year now, waiting patiently for a class date. If you make the cut and get hired into a pool, I think it should be a fifo deal so you have some semblance of a time line when you can start. It's a degrading process as is and does nothing to build any kind of company support while they continue to fill classes with people who got interviewed after you did.

I like the current pool system. The company would be stupid not to hire the best candidates regardless of when they interviewed.

Pool is not a fifo

Candidates are ranked by a point system and hired accordingly, if you scored low enough in the points you could be in the pool forever.

good luck

I know what happened at UAL back then which is one of the reasons I really didn't want to work there. It was wrong but some people need to let go. I can't read one "How do you get an interview at XYZ airline" without some snot saying something about being a chick. It gets real old and annoying especially when you are someone who is right in line experience wise as many dudes getting jobs.

I didn't say anything about our pool so I don't know where that came from but I agree it is messed up.

The people in the pool have already been accepted...they are just awaiting class dates...they have already met the requirements..why not give them training dates then?

BTW, how long were you in the pool?

Are you in the pool now or on property? I agree about the distaff comments you might hear sometimes, but I had to think about the $75 multiplied by who knows how many applicants..that is quite a chunk of change...I'm sure their HR dept was self funded...

In any case...happy to buy you a beer anytime...

YMMV
