So if I don't sign the petition, or forward it to everyone on my mailing list, does that make me a non-Patriot veteran?

I cant agree with the eminent domain appeal. . . kind of a low ball tactic, from what appears to be a low ball organization that has no free thinking individuals within themselves.

More importantly, who is President Bush to refer to any sector of patriots as "true" American patriots? (ref: "…place to reflect on our past, be inspired by true American patriots...") What is a false American patriot? Is it someone that seperates after honorably serving and then questions his previous leadership for the decisions they made?

I wish you luck though, honestly. The ACLU will get another donation from me to fight this one.

Puts his flame retardent suit on to defend against the liberal bashing that is about to take place.

It makes you a pro-ACLU, Godless cretin, who has declared that he is our enemy in the Culture War . .either that .. or a classless slob who does not honor the memory of the Korean War Veterans who erected this memorial for their fallen comrades!

At least . . that’s MY opinion!

I honor by serving. Thank you for your time as well, I see you are retired.

NO. . you spit on the memory of all this memorial was errected (originally in 1917) to honor.

You OBVIOUSLY don't have a grasp on what the 1st Amendment says. That makes you an American Taliban . . who would tear down others 'symbols' using the specious twisting of the 1st Amendement and Thomas Jeffereson's words about 'seperation'.

THIS is a perfect example of the proper use of 'eminent domain' by government! The memorial is on PRIVATE land -is ALREADY Congessionally designated a "National War Memorial" - and 76% of the voters of San Diego agreed that the Federal Government SHOULD 'take' it!

I doubt you understand the 'issues' here. . IF you are a Catholic . .of course . . you are not a 'thinking' Catholic if you support the anti-American ACLU!

There NEVER was any such thing! I believed if for a while, too . .until I studied up on the subject. You and millions of others have been propagandized. Show us WHERE in the Amendment that it says ANYTHING about 'separation'? Pay particular attention to the phrase: "or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;"

Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

Thomas Jefferson only mentioned the words ‘separation of church and state’ in a letter to the Baptist Church in Danbury, CT -people who were misguided in their efforts to get CT to make 'Baptist' the 'state church'. He admonished them that the country had to keep religion and the state separate. . which, of course, certainly does NOT have the force of law behind it . . or is it supported in the 1st Amendment. The Socialists have been propagandizing generations of youngsters with that bogus phrase, and you have fallen for it.

I don't know what you are talking about 'respect to other religions'. THAT is NOT in the Constitution EITHER! THIS particular 'memorial' has Jewish Stars of David and the Muslim Crescent Moon on MANY of the individual memorials to departed service members. HOW'S THAT for 'respect to other's religions?

You're missing the point here. I don't care if it stands or falls. I do care though that some small organization is petitioning our President (executive branch) on the grounds of religion, AFTER a Federally appointed JUDGE (judicial branch) has already ruled on the subject.

Why is it so hard for right-wing religious organizations to follow a verdict from a judge?

I could go on and on, but it won't matter. Right wing, left wing, it all is insignificant.

You hate me because I'm a catholic, an Air Force member, and an ACLU member. . . horrible combination I suppose. I don't have anything against you Capt. I take issue with the fact that some people in this country have no respect for the judicial system that is in place.

Nevertheless, I love how every forum ends up straying so far off topic. I'm going to go back to reading about aviation, and the aviation industry.
