FDX - Will 4a2b be permanent?

Someone needs to explain a few things to me. These things are not just happening during our peak period.
How is counting on makeup requests to fly innumerable extra's 'Preventing or delaying a furlough'?
How is reducing reserve coverage to unprecedented low levels for our most valuable flying, intl' MD-11, 'Preventing or delaying a furlough'?
How is maintaining a very high line average with very low reserve coverage in the 757 'Preventing or delaying a furlough'? Guess who picks up their extras? Yes, the 727.
How do big carryover pairings 'Prevent or delay a furlough'?
How is optimizing the schedule, whether or not OR realizes it is happening, 'Preventing or delaying a furlough'?
How is relying on draft and volunteer on a regular basis 'Preventing or delaying a furlough'?
These are the questions that should be answered by those in high places. Or maybe our new poster, Chuck Turpen, has some of the answers. From his posts I gather he is smarter than most of us.

I wonder when "O" will have his next one...???
What's mgmt been saying at RGS lately?
Given all the "draft" and "xtra" lines, are they still trying to tell folks that we are 700 pilots overmanned?
I'd be very interested in seeing "O" come out and talk frankly to the pilots right now during peak.

How was the overall interaction?
Did he take any questions or make statements regarding:
- Decreased number of scheduled reserves
- Increased use of reserves
- Increased use of draft
- Increased addition of Xtra pairings after bid pack release
- Increase in domestic or international volumes
- Increase in number of retirements
- His best guess on 4A2B exit
- His take on the current value of "goodwill" of the pilot force, especially with peak approaching
These are all questions I think we should ask at every opportunity.
I can't imagine that the true answers to these questions are static.
Thanks again.

Somehow, pushing line averages 10-15% below contractual min results in 350 (350/4500= 7.8%) less overmanning.
My math is not creative enough to make sense of this position.

Why did management think transitioning from 3 man DC-10s to 2 man MD-10s and 11s wouldn't create extra crewmembers? Same for 727 to 757. The 777 is also increasing efficiency but to a lesser degree.
We are funding the purchase of 757s and 777s. Every one should have the words "Brought to you by" and a big, fat ALPA sticker next to it. Maybe BC and DW can sign them.
We certainly aren't getting anything for the savings in crew costs operating our newest airplanes. Might as well see something on the side recognizing our big contribution.
I personally approve a BZ for the entire pilot group! Give them a pat on the back the next time you see them.

This way of funding new planes is so popular there's talk of replacing more than a few A300s with 757s and, eventually, replacing MD-11s (all?) with 777s.
This is, of course, over and above the replacement of A310s currently underway.

Our CBA problems could have been averted by LANGUAGE INTENT STUDY ................... but the team did not do it, we did not demand it.
Is it true that no other ALPA Air Carriers have a 4a2b paragraph, only us ???
As far as the "process", I have lost almost every sliver of faith in the "process" and I liken it to the Justice System ; not sure any of it really works.

"Did you just call the Chief Pilot a "tool"?."
Someone else asked him if he thought 4a2b was being implemented fairly amongst the crew force. He said "YES" guess he does see any of the 75 or asia bid pack or cant do simple math.
I'll say it again WE LOST 4a2b
