Default Air Cargo Carriers

Anyone have any information on this company? Pay, QOL, upgrades, anything that would be useful to know, thanks

They recently crahsed two airplanes into each other doing air to air photography, so I don't know, but I'm just guessing; losing two airframes would cut down on their hiring.

Most of the people that fly for 135 ops like ACC are looking to get in, get their time, and get out. Having said that we see their aircraft (shorts and Falcon 20) at my FBO a bit and they have always been nice guys. I've never really had a crew say that working for them sucks like some other cargo carriers out there. They have a website, I'd get on there and find a number to HR and find out what they have to say.

Highly recommend you flying 135, but you are UND so I am sure i'll see you walking around the terminal sometime soon in AWAC uniform or such

I interviewed and was offered a slot in the pool earlier this month but have taken a regional slot...... so information I have is fresh from the Interview for what its worth:

Pay:
20k for FO's to start (9k is non-taxable perdiem) so 11k is taxable...not bad
40k+ for CA's to start and can be higher depending on if you fly scheduled or charter and what run you fly.

QOL: If you are single, it would be fine. Training in MKE for ground and sim out east.... Then you would be put into the system in an opening AT THAT TIME. No guarentees or guesses as to where you will end up. Once you do get a base, you can not be forced out of it. Scheduled side is basically a 5 night work week...10pm-6am or so. Home everyday.

Charter side is just flat different. 19 on/9 off. During the 19 on you go wherever the plane goes and are gone all 19. But then its 9 off so that is some good quality time.... It depends what you are looking for.

UPGRADES: Very fast. Once you hit FAR135 IFR mins (1200TT etc) you are eligible for upgrade. It is non-union company so upgrades CAN be out of seniority order. Do a good job, and upgrades can be very fast. In general, most upgrades are within 1 year. So it is lots of quick Turbine time and PIC starts fast too.

It is a smaller company with a homely feel. Great folks working there. They want to hire captains so be a confident and knowledgeable pilot if you go there. Despite the crash (which was a part of their Military contracts), they seem to have a quality operation from my impression.

If you have a Commercial Multi and 500TT or more I would apply despite what the website says. Just email them a resume. Many low time guys can get in there.
Good Luck.

Are they still charging for the training on the Shorts?

What??!?! The two aircraft were training for going overseas to help the effort in the middle east.

I know some people there that really enjoy it. It's a career move, that is, it'll get you to the career job. Unlike some jet carriers with 9 year upgrades.

Great feedback on this topic! I started talking to them last week. Their chief pilot, Paul Morris prefers 800TT & will take your call after you've looked over their website- http://aircar.com Seems their projections are quite optimistic, based on fleet of 26 Shorts feeding FedEx, UPS, & DHL (in no particular order) with compatable containerized freight.
I wondered how many people actually showed up for the June 29th training class. Since they own their own Simulator, no PFT for their newhires.
