Default FDX X-Pairings

Today, over 413 hours worth of MEM 11F x-pairing flying showed up in open time. I'm no conspricay theorist, but it seems like having that volume of hours show up after the publication of the bidpack is very convenient for company number crunchers trying to extend 4a2b. If that number of hours was divided by the 728 MEM 11FOs, that would result in an average BLG of about 36 minutes higher than the bid pack. Chances are more will magically show up throughout the month.

...just sayin'

Thumbs up

Would love to see the MEC Scheduling Committee address this issue with hard data across the entire fleet in their next communication.

They've done an excellent job showing how the reduction in reserve lines from historical averages have artifically manipulated/supressed BLGs.

Default DC-10 folks

I suspect the company will try to keep us in 4a2b until the last of the 10 guys get off the training letter. They are paying the hours reguardless whether the extra hours are on bid lines or picked up afterwards... but I think the guys getting paid to sit at home rubs them in not such a good way. Hell, I'd try to do it too if I was a DC-10 guy!

Until then, or until an arbitrator calls the BS flag, I think we are stuck with it.

What does the contract say about extra pairings?

Speaking of the arbitration.....

ALPA national really needs to consider lobbying to change the arbitration processs as a whole. It is unconscionable that the resolution process cannot be accomplished in a matter of days or weeks, rather than months or years.

CBA 25.A....

3. All trips known and confirmed at the time a bid period package is
published shall appear in the bid period package. To the extent
reasonably practical, such trips shall be built into regular lines.

(this is the only reference I could find doing a quick CBA search - is there a mechanism for the union to know when flying is "known & confirmed" - or do we just accept that all these XTRA trips just popped up at the last minute??)

+++++++++++++++++++++

Also in CBA 25.A.....

5. Trips published in a bid period package that subsequently
become available as open time shall remain in the same base
during the bid period. Flying not published in a bid period
package, including newly constructed trips as described in
Section 25.G.5. (certain open time assignments), may be
assigned by the Company to any base.

(is anyone at the union scrubbing all the trips being transferred from MEM to ANC under the guise of "hotel standby" or just blatantly adding a front & back dh to the exact same pairing??)

how can that practice even remotely be considered to be in compliance with 25.A.5.?

And now...of the 400+ hours, there are 18 hours left. No disputed pairings even. All at straight time.

This really screws the guys on reserve. Average line holders BLG went up .6 hrs, and the reserve guys got squat.
