UPS- a "Good Corporate Citizen?"

Net profit= $757 million, CFO states "we have more cash flow than we know what to do with." IPA offers $136+ million in cost savings "working together" with UPS. Result- 300 families terrorized for MORE. Time for an effective PR campaign. Corporate greed is a hot topic and this is an election year...

It has already begun by BT in the CourierJournal.com. Need to expose this place for what it really is!

Welcome to capitalism, democracy and corporate America.

Verizon just laid off 15,000...Wall Street laid off 25,000 while their CEOs took billions in bonuses. You really think this will garner any interest?

Well, this and my gosh, Kentucky Kingdom closing, people in the Ville will listen.

No one will cry about 300 "rich" pilots being unemployed. Especially in this economy.

"Karma" my friend.

No disagreement there except for the "rich" part. I just had my first good salary in almost 20 years in this business (save one at AMR prior to that furlough). I averaged less than 40K in those years. I have a house that isn't selling in another state with a very expensive move back from over 3000 miles away in Alaska where my employer is dumping me. I didn't save much this year because I was on "B" scale MOU duty.

Rich? I think not.

Read it. That will be as effective as the mechanics' billboards.

UPS has already called the 170. Where was the union making the corresponding phone calls like in 2003? We seem to be engaging in a reactionary rather than a forward thinking strategy.

The Union Never Called Me Back In 03! I Don't Expect Much From The Company Or The Union. This Place Is Just Another Outfit With An Association.
This Is Outfit Number 8 For Me And The Outfit I Will Retire From Hasn't Even Started Yet! Really!

For people that are in the industry, all of that is understood. But we all know the media will portray the average UPS pilot as "wealthy" and Joe Sixpack making $10/hour will have no sympathy.

That's why trying to do a "media campaign" to show UPS "wrong doing" will not gain any traction with the public.
