FEDEX--Best Seat?

Returning to FEDEX from extended MLA (years) this summer. What's the best fleet, seat and domicile. My seniority, hired May '05, is 50% in the narrow body FO and 95% in the wide body FO.

What should I avoid?

The Walrus 03-05-2010 07:27 AM

Avoid airbus f/o. Rumor of more excesses. At 95% you might get moved out or be st the very bottom.

If you don't have to have widebody pay, I say go 757. Growing fleet and starting to pick off more and more of the good 72 and baby bus trips. My .02.

What are your thoughts in bidding the 777 FO for someone with my "juniority"?

purpledog 03-05-2010 07:48 AM

777 FO= simulators to get your 3/90
If you can get a non-deploying billet, stay on mil as long as you can. It ain't pretty here now.

Now Gone

Best seat in the house was DC-10 F/O.....:(

I was thinking the same thing. I figure things will only get uglier between now and contract ratification. I'd recommend staying on MLA until the dust settles if you can ... sorry.

Jumbo Pilot 03-05-2010 10:06 AM

What was on your standing bid when you left? I think you will go back to what your seniority can hold in the order it was on your standing bid.

At least that is what they told me when I left on a long term MLA. Been about 13 months for me... and not quite sure when I'll be returning.

FWIW

Your numbers are a little off re: wide-body %

A May 2005 hire would be 100% on the Bus -- probably 5 guys from the bottom of the entire F/O list. A little better on the -11, still @ 100%, but about 60 guys from the bottom of the list.

ANC would be a little better, not sure if you want the commute for 80% (or so) Seniority with diminishing lines.

If the excess rumors are true, then your seniority would not let you hold the Bus.

That's what they have in all current fighters - except the F-22. And amen to that Albie, however, I'm ejoying teaching IFF. And BTW, the T-38 is getting a new seat...we're getting it this summer. Supposedly a very good seat...no chute, just the harness. Much mo' better for the neck on DBFM in the mighty smurf.

F-22 is improved ACES. F-35 has the Martin-Baker. I think you guys are getting a similar M-B seat like the F-35 has.

ummmmm.......yeah.......

as interesting as all this cool fighter pilot ejection seat information is......

and, while the original poster did mention he was currently on mil leave......

I'm pretty sure the topic was what's the best seat AT FEDEX to take when he comes back to FEDEX - from the mil leave

not which military fighter (or trainer) currently has the best ejection seat

talk about a thread hijacking...

KnightFlyer 03-08-2010 07:40 PM
