Questions about Atlas
First timer on the cargo board, I don't really know a lot about the different cargo airlines. I was wondering if someone could tell me about Atlas. I see they have different crew bases, are the schedules usually commutable? Do you work on a set rotation or is it bidding each month? I assume you would be hired into the classic, or do you fly both the classic and the 400? Overall are you happy with your job?
Like I said I am in the initial stages of research so if all these questions have been asked before I am sorry
Thanks!!!!

Hi!
I am not at Atlas, but know guys that are, and have read every Atlas thread I can find (Any corrections to my info are greatly appreciated!):

It sounds like they airline you wherever they want you unless you live within 150??? miles of your base. If you live in base can do some type of "normal" schedule 4/3, or something to that effect.
Many guys that commute do their 17 days in one shot. If they airline you from where you live, I do not know if you have a choice...may have to do 17 in a row. They can extend your 17 to 21 days MAX, but they have to pay you a lot for days 18-21.
It IS possible that you could get two 17 day schedules back-to-back and be gone for 34 days. Some guys ASK for 34 day schedules, so they can be home the rest of the 2 month cycle in a row (27? days at home).
Do you work on a set rotation or is it bidding each month?
Have not heard about the bidding process.

I think now you fly one of the other. Now they also have the 747 LCF so I am guessing that will be a separate fleet.
Overall are you happy with your job?
I AM happy with my job, but if I were to be hired at Atlas my satisfaction level with my job would skyrocket, well, like an "Atlas" booster!
Good luck, and God Bless!

Classic and -400 have seperate type ratings, so there's no mix between the two in terms of flying. Based on the Classic fleet size there may be some hiring into the Classic, but I suspect it will all go -400. Since the LCF is based on the -400 and other than sheetmetal, the systems are -400 based, if you fly the -400, you will fly the LCF. Same with the passenger ops on the Houston Express.
