While I strongly suspect the MX aspect is the driving force for several reasons we should bear in mind ABX has a number of pax aircraft which they have paid for and taken delivery on that are waiting for conversion slots. Those aircraft might be put to use profitably in the pax charter business ( or at least make enough to offset their keep). Also, they will probably buy more aircraft in the near future. Those too will need slots and might be flown as pax aircraft while waiting.

Default MX? I dont think so..

I cannot beleive that anyone would do anything for A/C MX reasons in the US.
Being in mx myself I can tell you that everyone including freight dogs are moving as much as possible overseas.
Ramp space or mechanics? DIME A DOZEN.
There are repair centers in Mobile, San Antonio, Upstate NY (Rome, NY), all over florida and nevada, and california. ALL are desparate for work. Mechanics are everywhere and unemployed from the majors. I ought to know, I was one for 15 years. I dont think that ABX will be buying Pace. They cant compete with established charter outfits like ryan, omni, etc. In fact Transmeridian went out of business, they can buy that certificate if they wanted to.

Default Thank you O Sky God, I feel much better now

Is there anything more refreshing than the pontifications of a Sky God from above? Thank you for telling us mere mortals the "real" truth. This Pace pilot has been losing sleep about the future until now. Thank you O Sky God for setting us all straight. Your mission is accomplished. You are now free, once again to unzip your pants and pleasure yourself, gazing lovingly at your A380 model.

They already do a small amount of third party MRO in the mx hangers in ILN that are NOW owned by DHL. ABX wants to expand it's third party MRO, so the only option is to have a facility not located in ILN that is NOT controlled by DHL. Pace has a part 145 repair station and mx facility in INT. That is what ABX is after. They are NOT interested in any part of Pace's pax ops, taking over leases of their planes or integrating their crews. Another reason ABX is interested is that they are getting 11 more ex-Delta 767s that are earmarked for ABX use, NOT DHL. Those planes are for now, to be painted in ABX colors and used for expansion of their charter flying in S. America. ABX and DHL have stated that there is NO additonal parking spaces available in ILN for anymore aircraft, yet alone one's that are not for DHL use. So where is ABX going to park these new 767s that are not for DHL use? That's why they are interested in Pace's facility in INT. The parking at ILN is already taken up and ABX is forced to park surplus planes in CVG, at the Robert's hanger in ILN and they have two DC-8s pushed in a DITCH on the east side of rwy 4R-22L!!! Joe Hete has a gag order out for all ABX management concerning comment on Pace. Wonder why he would do that? LOL Don't be surprised in the future to see ABX moving it's headquarters to INT. Oh, one more reason ABX is interested in Pace is to screw the ILN mechanics that work in hvy mx. ABX will either tell them to move to INT if they want a job of just ****can them and use the mechanics already at the Pace facility.

I also heard that the ILN facility is maxed out and they have nowhere to change the new 767's over to cargo so the Pace 145 comes into view again. Also while they are waiting for some to be swithed they may be used for troop transports.....?
