FDX-Train CAN-HKG
 

Anybody taken the train from CAN-HKG? I was told a lot of HKG guys use it. If so I would appreciate a little gouge...how to do it, easy/hard, price etc.

Here's the schedule:

Safe to show up 45 minutes early. I think they allow as short as :30.

The ones that say (Ktt) next to them offer "first class" (they call it premium). Will cost you 230 HK. I believe coach runs you 190 HK. You can pay in HKD or RMB, they don't take credit cards.

You take the train from the hotel in CAN to the Guangzhou East train station. Tell the desk you need a ride to the train station for a train to HKD. They'll write it down for ya.

I have the CAN-HKG deadhead later this month and looking at the train option. Had a couple of extra questions for anyone who's done the train ride.

Any problems with Customs folks on crossing the border into HKG using our normal China visa?
How much/long for the taxi rides on both ends?
Any special tips to keep from getting lost and otherwise stay out of trouble?

The Hotel staff in CAN will set the whole thing up and even buy your tickets. Just go downstairs in the morning and pay for the tickets at the concierge and head out for the KTT train in a metered cab.

Ha! I thought the title suggested there was a FDX train from CAN - HKG? :eek:

What's the Cost and gouge on hiring a car to drive from CAN to HKG Sheraton ?

Lock that down and it will go senior! :)

Did it once from the Pullman to HKG... Parklane Limo... 385.00USD! ouch!
