1330 L show FDX
Which reporting period does a trip that shows at 1330L Mem trip fall into RA or RB?
|
I think its RB, RA would end at 1329L, and RB starts at 1330L, but don't quote me...Sec 25.M has the reserve stuff, that I do know.

RB as shown below...12 hours after local base day starts which is 1330..did you get hosed?
Reserve Periods (RP) Reserve periods may take any of the following forms: Reserve Period A (RP-A) is a 12 hour period of time beginning at the start of the day. Reserve Period A+ (RP-A+) is a 12 hour period of time beginning 6 hours after the start of the day. Reserve Period B (RP-B) is a 12 hour period of time beginning 12 hours after the start of the day. Reserve Period B+ (RP-B+) is a 12 hour period of time beginning 18 hours after the start of the day. Reserve Period 24 (RP-24) is a 24 hour period of time beginning at the start of the day. |
I've been called on RA at 1127 for a trip that showed at 1230, then airport stby for 2 hrs then took off an hour later.
Another for a 1030 takeoff, but the paperwork was not ready til after 1330 for international flight. |

I hope you were released to rest before that call. Otherwise, you violated the FARs. In the first example, you couldn't legally depart unless your flight was less than 30 minutes long. You would have been wheels up knowing that your duty day was going to exceed 16 hours. 1600 Memphis time is the latest you can legally operate on RA unless you were released for rest prior to show time.
I brought this EXACT issue up with the duty officer when I was launched from ASTBY recently. He said the CONTRACT says duty time starts at your ASTBY check-in time (as opposed to the start time for my HSTBY) which he said was MUCH more restrictive than the FAR's. I didn't take the time to research the CBA. Anybody know where it's located? |

Found this in CBA 12.B.b.v.
"If assigned to base airport standby duty, the pilot's duty period shall begin at showtime of the airport standby. If a pilot is not assigned a trip, his airport standby shall terminate 5 hours after beginning duty for that standby or at the end of the base hotel standby period, whichever occurs first." The time limit for the HSTBY still controls. If assigned a trip off of ASTBY, it gets even more complicated. The biggest confusion is due to the fact that 3 different sets of rules apply: scheduled contractual limitations, operational limitations, and FAR limitations. The 16 hour FAR rule will still views the beginning of HSTBY as the beginning of your duty period. |
you also must be "scheduled" for crew rest not later than 4 hours after the end of the R period...1730 for RA or 0530 for RB (MEM time)

A reserve pilot who departs his domicile to operate a domestic duty period shall be scheduled for release to a legal rest period not later than 4 hours after the end of his RP. |
