I like how he's calling out UPS with factual data, but UPS won't let the truth get in the way of their furlough.

i'm stupefied at this company's behavior and treatment of their employees / furloughees. i hope that each and every pilot affected by this finds a better place to work.
this is going to have long term consequences that ups will have to deal with. hang in there guys. if another job offer comes along, take it and don't ever look back. i don't think ups is going to be the place to be in the years to come. short sighted management at ups will result in fedex kicking the snot out of us. i'm starting to worry about my own career at this company. |
by the way. i spoke with a very frazzled manager the other day, and was told that asia is requesting more lift from ups but we don't have the aircraft or the crews in place to service our volume increases. his explanation was the recurring theme at ups in that none of the little fiefdoms communicate with the other fiefdoms until it's already in crisis mode. this is a very poorly managed company that is profitable only because it had such a head start on everybody else. i think this time, ups won't be able to use momentum to recover.
this particular manager already sent his card into the ipa too. |
We're resuming full guarantees (with no furloughs) as you guys now begin the furloughing of hundreds?
Things that make you go hmmmmm... |
Stock price is down around 10% over the past few weeks. Maybe they're planning a massive buy back, or Davis is shorting the stock. Next we'll announce we're ceasing package deliveries and instead are going to start burger franchise .

this particular manager already sent his card into the ipa too. I flew with an ACP last week that told me the exact same thing....said Asia is screaming and begging for more aircraft (lift) but UPS has cut it's nose off despite it's face....there are 3 more 747s coming in the next few months and the original plan was to use Z, A300, and 75D displacees/RIFs to crew the new aircraft, but according to him, they can't spare the bodies so when we talked about the furlough he just shook his head and said it is the dumbest and most ill-timed thing he has ever seen....all I can do is shake my head in disbelief and frustration... |
Does the title of this thread make anyone else think of "Team America"? Remember when Hans Blix tells Kim Jong Il that he will be forced to send a "very harsh letter" unless Kim lets him search the palace for WMD?
"F--K YOU HANS BRIX!!" I'm glad someone in Congress is asking UPS some very specific, very difficult questions. Good luck fellas. |
