What's up with all the DFT? I thought we were overmanned? Can you say 4.a.2.b? I thought you could :D

Or building week long ANC HSBY for MEM Fo's at straight pay :( Seems to me the manning model is being tested for the new post 4.A.2.b economics of the company

Turned down two ANC 11 F/O five day draft trips the other day.

Bid? What bid? It's been so quiet lately, something surely must be up.

I'd like to take a moment to editorialize on a personal note: I think it would be in my best interest if I didn't exhale now that 4a2b is almost over. Note that it is ALMOST over...not in June...but in July. Rampant drafting and volunteering is apparently the norm and how it appears skeds will be looking to fill trips. I feel as though I would be doing a collective disservice to my fellow pilots if I started taking these types of trips. I can only urge everyone to think big picture...please.

This is just one guy's opinion.

WM

PS--You guys are right. The bid is coming very soon, it will be on a Friday. It would have to be fairly large I would think. With all the open time and guys going over RLG and the drafting that is going on, it seems like things are going off pretty big right now. I'm sure someone down there in Mempho has a plan--maybe it's that new guy?

To include HKG MD11? CGN 757? Secondaries? Hmmmmm......

Haywood JB 06-22-2010 08:17 AM

My bet would be the MD11 HKG first, then once they get that locked in, a domestic bid to follow. I think CGN, will be later down the road once they get the 75's actually over there.

They haven't even come to a FDA deal on Cologne, which will presumably also apply to HKG. There will be another ratification vote on that which will take time. Also at this point with the process pushing into the 2nd half of the year and an initial FDA bid having to be open longer than a standard bid you have to wonder how much training they're really interested in doing before peak?

Wildmanny 06-22-2010 07:18 PM

If they don't get at least some of the correct bodies into the seats that they are having to draft for right now, peak is going to be a mess. Not that it always isn't, but I can't imagine that they'd want a repeat of last year.

Bid now, big bid, train on.

I think they have satisified themselves that they can get enough guys to fly 120 hours a month to fill the schedule. Just slap 30 hours of C/O on half the nov lines and problems solved. After all it is a "right of seniority."
