Not union vs non union? Why is FDX so adamanent to fight it? Why isn't the pilot group trying to help? UPS pilots support the Teamsters and the Teamsters support the IPA. Are Fed Ex pilots worried that there will be furloughs if they help FDX drivers organize? Are FDX pilots worried about being replaced? All I see on this forum is how bad UPS is. There are drivers that earn over 100k but after it is all said and done when they visit the accountant it might be 30k? Fed Ex doesn't figure those margins in the quarterly and yearly earnings reports. Imagine if Fed Ex did? There goes your shipping discount

How do they stay in business? I'm going to research turnover of ground drivers. I'm going to research how many run it like a business and have multiple routes and pay the actual driver minimum wage or possibly less again with no bene's. Safety would be an issue too. I want to be factual and not speculate

Good news though. I might have a job working for a publication in the shipping industry.

Why dont you google RLA and NLRA. I stand by my statement. The teamsters are free to organize anyone they want to. FEDEX is free to fight it IAW applicable laws. I am pretty sure the majority of pilots dont care, some would probably help organize. Just follow the applicable law like we do.

Couldn't money be saved in Atlanta over labor laws to make a competive playing field with FDX and close down the airline?

Just like before 1988, own the gateways and aircraft. 2800 UPS pilots that UPS doesnt have to pay for, no benefits, no "scumbag managers", no strike threats or millions spent on union negotiations.

National, Evergreen, Atlas/Polar, DHL, Kalitta, a whole planet of freight carriers out there who would love to grow and expand.

It's just a few on here that don't see that Atlanta is fighting for them in DC though. If it was reversed what would Fred Do?

Taking out lavs on some of your earlier 727's, APU's out of some of the 8's, crappy little crew buses to take crews to and from their SDF aircraft, shaky, rust ridden crew stairs, the list goes on and on. It has nothing to do with how UPS pays its package car drivers, nor how it fixes their company-owned vehicles, nor the fact that their biggest competitor has found a way to pay less for some delivery services. If you actually believe your own argument, how come UPS has never had an employee discount? Including prior to 1971, before FedEx was founded. You sir, are a joke. Why not drag your management butt over to some other web site. May I suggest Disney.com, because you're certainly living in Fantasyland.

Ever meet Jim Casey? I did. You should research him. How do you think UPS got to be UPS. It has been that way long before us.

No question UPS is cheep. Trust me I've known all my life about that. You left out no power steering or brakes. No air conditioning even in feeders (thats tractor trailers for you JJ). That has changed over the years, Package Cars (Delivery Vehicles to you JJ) are now equiped with auto trans, power steering, brakes. But guess what 250,000 drivers, and loaders have health benefits, retirement, and union protection. IPA pilots have support on the ground side and the ground side has support of the IPA. That is something FDX will not have since it is mostly non union. As soon as Fred threatens to replace with leased aircraft and crews the union caved. But you have fancy crew buses.

Fancy crew buses don't haul packages. A fleet of Corporate jets for execs doesn't make money. Managers fly coach at UPS unless they have FF Miles. A fleet of Corporate jets for execs doesn't make money. Should UPS with the profit UPS makes buy a fleet of 11 corporate jets to fly to Pittsburgh for meeting with the separate company with the separate CEO?

Are you saying JJ that it is ok to have Corporate jets, and fancy crew buses at the expense of healthcare, retirement and a decent wage?




Just asking for facts and answers but few seem to have any. Just personal attacks.

Because UPS gives vacations to all of their employees. UPS gives Benefits to all of their employees. Most UPS employees make alot more than their FDX Counterparts. How many times did you ship a package for Uncle Stush using your FDX discount? Just think of the FDX ground guys delivering your package with no benefits or vacation next time. The FDX ground guy has to find a replacement driver when he want to take a day off. He has to pay the guy out of his own money too. UPS'ers dont have to do that. Oh they don't get a 10% discount on shipping. Managers don't get to ride on corporate jets either.

I have seen managers and employees at UPS get fired for slipping packages into the system without paying for them.

I don't know about you but Id rather have Bene's, vacation and better pay than a 10% discount with free coffee. Thats just me though. UPS should take a vote, Ground drivers give up vaca, bene's and great pay so ANC gets free coffee and everybody gets an employee discount.

So nobody has a coffee pot in ANC? Is it a vending machine that is owed by a guy with a vending route to earn a living? Did UPS decide on a new way to make money by putting in coffee machines in all the domiciles and gateways?

I heard that UPS is suing all coffee company's because coffee is brown and UPS trademarked the color brown. The coffee industry is infringing on the UPS trademark.
