I agree.

I hope that level of discilpline (or lack thereof) can be cited in any similar IPA pilot mistakes in the future. We are good, but no one is perfect.

This is the disease that has plagued the IPA over the last 20 years. We have a fairly young pilot group. No one wants to rock the boat, else they may lose what they have.

This double breasted operation has to stop. Clearly violating the rules for personal gain has to stop. Look at the flight schedule. There is a manager on almost every MD and 74 flight out of ANC. Yet we are furloughing line pilots.

Unemployed today, so yeah. I am a little peeved. BTW. I dont think this one will "slide" either. A few people I know are already inquiring about losing their license with the FAA, while 3 UPS check airman clearly violate the FAR's for personal gain (early arrival) operating in areas not approved. And as far as blaming the IRO! YGFBSM. Every member on that flight did not know the rules regarding this?

JUP,
sorry to see you go, I hope it is as brief and pain free as possible.

As for them not knowing the rules, check the bar and grill, a few of our international guys didn't know it either. They ASAP'd which should protect their licenses, and the IPA has protected their jobs.

Thanks for the info.

I seem to recall that FDX used to interpret it that Capts could release themselves if they had the fuel and no contact with GOC! Been a long time ago though, so I may have misremembered!

At FDX we used to be able to re-release ourselves. This went away a few years ago I believe.

Most of us don't have a problem releasing ourselves. But, age naturally restricts many from re-releasing themselves.

What about the discussion that an ASAP is only valid if there is agreement between the CO., work group, & the FAA. Does the IPA's ASAP program cover these non-union p-lots?

Yes they are covered as the agreement is between the IPA, FAA, and UPS. (the manglers falling under UPS)
