Fedex Aircraft

I see a lot of threads about Fedex eventually being nothing but 777 & 757.. Just curious how this would work with the Airbus fleet? Can the 757 cover the capabilities of the 300/310? Is there another aircraft option or plan out there?

Actually, in one of the instructor meetings a while back one of the Heads of Standards stated several times that by 2020 - 2025 they want nothing but 777's and 757's.

125 of each or something like that. He stated they probably couldn't get them that fast...but that was what he saw the goal as. Take it for what it's worth.

Wow, that would not be good. Going from 350 airplanes to 250. I hope they are wrong!

Is this the same instructor group who claimed to know that we were going to retire nearly 300 pilots last year? The same group who said we were getting 737s, that we even sent pilots to 737 training, and actually had tail numbers of the planes we were supposedly going to buy? Our instructor force has no credibility in the rumor category just like most of them have no credibility flying the real plane. Maybe it's best we keep the gaggle of hens clucking around in the training environment.

Seriously? Wrong building and wrong group. This was not an instructor or instructor group, it was a manager. Not that it really matters because of credibility...just saying, get the facts right.

PS: I take it you don't like instructors?

If its like UPS they would send you a homestudy and a DVD , its already a dual type. The 767-200 comes up a little short on payload against the A300-600, 767-300ER is a great airplane with a lot of verstility and many should come available for conversion.

Well, not an instructor, but there were nearly 300 "inquiries" for retirement packets which are required in order to have any idea what your individual numbers are going to be in retirement. Otherwise you are only guessing. That came from the ACP office. We also did have a 737 initial instructor staff that were writing our manuals and I believe may have gone to get a couple of type ratings.

As far as the aircraft, there were tail numbers "tagged" for acquisition through leasing companies that believed that there were many that were to be turned in due to the economy and state of the operating airlines at the time (mainly back when United and USAir were basically on life support). When the bean counters made the decision to pull the trigger and get the planes, the aircraft were not available. Had they made the decision a year earlier we would be flying them today.

Schoolhouse rumors are no better or no worse than anyone elses.
