NO. . because he was 'Jack, the Chief Pilot' who was riding on a 'personal' jumpseat.
Having him on board would have violated FARs. . . the one that says you have to be mentally fit to fly. All the BS he (and other management pilots) have heaped down on this group would certainly cause Tony . .and most other non-Koolaide chuggers to be too distracted to safely operate. I would have bumped him too. . . out of concern for 'safety of flight'.
Real easy for you to say now, sitting in your rocking chair. I don't think you would have had the ba11s. JMO

OH Come ON! . . . you don't know your 'history' then, do you?
Most of the 'carpet dancing' I had the displeasure of doing over 27 years is because I DID have the cojones to show management they were wrong on an issue.
One of my last acts, going out the door, was to refuse the bogus 'security measures' they put in place for ONLY pilots, in the field.
Every 'Abdullah the caterer', Faisal the fuel truck driver and various and sundry Ramp Rat had FULL access to our ramp and MY aircraft . . all day long . . .WITHOUT any security check, whatsoever! And THEY wanted a hand search of our bags and frisking of MY crew before we went out to fly?! How obscene, ridiculous -and a totally misguided and wasted effort.
All's well that ends well. I got a few months off with full pay . . and they stopped the misguided policy shortly after we made an issue out of it. I will bet, though, that the Ramps are STILL woefully insecure and everybody but the pilots has access without having to get checked out.

Yep. It wasn't ours, but you get the idea.
Security officers at Glasgow Prestwick International Airport (EGPK/PIK) arrested three anti-war protesters who breached security at the airport and boarded a U.S.-registered cargo aircraft on 7 August 2006. According to a spokesperson for the anti-nuclear campaign group Trident Ploughshares, three of its members gained entrance to the airport by cutting a perimeter fence. The activists then accessed a cargo aircraft, reportedly to search for evidence that it was carrying weapons for delivery to Israel. In a separate incident, four protesters were arrested after running onto the main runway area at the facility at approximately 0330 local time (0230 UTC) on 6 August. The incidents are part of continued protests to demand that the United States stop using U.K. airports as refueling points for military aircraft en route to Israel. Hundreds of anti-war activists gathered at the airport for a peaceful demonstration on 30 July 2006.

I agree Drew. The next 911 will come from a cargo ramp here in the USA. It is all about strip searching pilots, old ladies and little kids in the airport terminal. Nobody has the balls to do any racial profiling or spend the money and time to screen what is shipped on our aircraft or what happens on our ramps.

I was hoping it might get better when Norman left Transportation. . . he IS gone . .isn't he? Or is the resignation 'pending'? Bush SHOULD have fired his Liberal a$$ within days of 9/11. .but . . no.
OH GREAT !! I just did a GOOGLE and found :
Acting U.S. Transportation Secretary
Maria Cino
Why is my gut telling me this could be a LOT WORSE than Mineta?! HE was the ABSOLUTE WORST guy we could have had as SecTrans . .post 9/11.
I go by the SAN ramp all the time and nothing, outwardly, appears to have changed. If you didn't want to just walk right through the front door, you could bring a couple of 5' ladders from Home Depot and climb over the fence. The jets are parked just yards from there.
