vacation and training (fdx)
My projected end date of training is going to be within a few days of my awarded week of vacation. Question is if my IOE touches a day of that week's vacation, do I lose the whole week and have to reschedule the vacation?? Or if I finish IOE the day before my vacation starts, will I still get the week off? Anyone know for sure, I don't want to lose my vacation and am considering swapping training in order to keep it. Thanks in advance.

If your vacation starts before your projected or actual completion date it will be canceled and be eligible for rescheduling. This happened to me about 4 years ago. When I called about rescheduling they said I could have the rest of my original week or pick any week my seniority could hold. Hope this helps.

When your vacation is canceled due to training you have 3 options:
1. Reschedule your vacation
2. Dump your vacation CH into your end of year vacation buy back (subject to 40% buy back limitations)
3. Be paid for your vacation now (not subject to end of year vacation buy back limits)
VIPS usually gives you option 1.
Number 3 (the 'Pay me now' option) is the unadvertised option, with the vacation CH $$ being deposited into your next paycheck.

Okay thanks....My projected activation date is 3 days before the vacation week so I think I'll role the dice and hope my completion date holds pretty true. So if I'm understanding you correctly, if my training goes over by 4 days (one day into my vacation) then I'll still have the option to keep the other 6 days of vacation....sound correct?? Thanks again!

This is probably gonna be the best thing for me...as it's gonna be really close the way it is. I wasn't sure if I'd still be able to slide and make it not conflict with my ITU, and if I can then it should work. Thanks for all the suggestions!

Didn't know about the "pay me now" option. Will have to call on that one - just lost 2 weeks of vacation for training

No, you keep your vacation dates. Also, if you are currently bidding for next years vacation you are doing it in the seat you are in with the seniority you have in your current seat.
