Default FedEx Hiring Update

From JL

"Hiring. I said before that we had stopped meet-and-greets and greatly slowed interviews. The last class of MD-11 Golden Nuggets will start on the 14th or so, along with other Purple Nuggets destined for the F/O and S/O seats on the Jurassic Jet. August, September and October should be large new hire months for us…than back to 24 a month or so. We’ll crank up interviews about the first of the year. Many of you had training dates slid because of the Golden Nuggets…..I know sorry doesn’t help, but it was the only way we could figure out how to have a chance to catch up. Expect a bid in late spring maybe."

Default Meet n' Greets?

KF,

You guys will crank up interviews, at or about the first of the year.
What about "Meet and Greets?"

Cheers,
DQ

I think Jack has decided that ALL new hires are now Purple Nuggets, and that the hired-to-the-widebody-right-seat new hires are now Golden Nuggets. That's my read, anyway! Whatever the case, I hate both terms!

How much time is there usually between the "meet and greets" and the interview (provided you get one). Does it vary widely??

Yeah I am going to miss ole Jack when he hangs it up soon. There is no way his replacement could ever be nearly as entertaining.

I did my meet-n-greet in the middle of June, right before they were shutoff. I was told that more than likely my interview would not be before October, but more than likely around Jan.-Feb.

I was told that with the large pilot pool they were going to stop/slow hiring. Speculation was that with contract negotiations moving slowly, the hiring would continue at a slow pace. I was told that they needed to keep hiring for next year's flying and retirements, but that they weren't sure when things would spool back up-it seemed to hinge on how negotiations continued...

I haven't heard much since.

Sounds like your case may have been a little unusual with your "meet-n-greet" being right before they were planning to slow hiring anyway. I wonder if when they are in faster hiring wave if the average time is a little shorter...

Talking

I did my M&G around the end of April. I just talked to a buddy over at FedEx
who said I should get a call any day, that it has been really slow but is picking back up. I was told originally that it could be 6months to a year and a half between M&G and interview...Hopefully soon (fingers crossed)
