I've promised myself that like you, I plan on not getting spun up quite so easily anymore. That said, and toward trying to become a better APC member, I just finished re-reading the Terms and Conditions that apply here. I mention this because although it clearly states in those very T&C's that "we do not have any obligation to monitor, edit, or review any Postings on the Site", there seems to be a number of Moderators who not only read each and every post, but feel obligated to either modify or completely erase some posts. As well, not to pick a fight but.... you now remind us to "stay on topic." While this is a small reminder that most of us actually try to follow, I can't find anywhere in the Terms and Conditions, where it commands a "stay on topic."

Best regards, and keep the coffee hot and black.

If you haven't figured it out by lurking around here yet, they don't put any SAFETY options besides the absolute minimum either. I'll leave it at that ....
So UPS didn't pioneer ADS-B. Remember Haney???

Soya, I had the West Coast manager for UPS airline freight on my acft a while back. He was responsible for all air freight in the US western region including Hawaii and Alaska.

He spent most of the flight from HNL to ONT moaning about how UPS airlines could care less about freight. He said that he is constantly turned down by the company when he has numerous customers that want to ship freight, LOTS of it, guaranteed amounts on a daily basis, but he said 99% of the time the airline turns him down even though there is room on our acft, because they are so paranoid about interfering with the small package ops.

He said that freight is truly the bastard stepchild at UPS. He does not even have an office! All his business is conducted on his cellphone, and he was crying over how the company wanted him to cut his cellphone minutes by 10% due to "belt tightening"!

We routinely fly acft around with empty positions, sometimes only half full, even in asia. Other airlines are able to stay in business carrying ONLY freight, yet UPS snubs their nose at it because the margins are not high enough.

I have also talked with shipping managers in asia who have told me that UPS only wants their high dollar priority stuff, and that because of that, and the hassle for them to split shipments, they give their business to FDX even though they are more expensive.

There has been a culture here, at least at the airline, of snubbing freight for a long time.

Your interests appear to lie solely with UPS, Which is fine. But don't assume anyone reading here gives much of a rats @ss to these other issues, even if UPS makes lots of money using them.

To the UPS pilots reading this guys dribble, I hope this isn't typical of what you have to live with at Brown. But based of what I've read from you all, I assume it is. Thankfully at Purple, our company types keep a lower profile (online).
"We are the most humble!!!" Your last sentence sort of negates your whole post, Mr Humble Pie

Anyway, I don't think it is so funny that UPS wants to diversify. It sounds like a sound business decision to me.

Lineslug,

I posted above the rankings, UPS Airlines being second in the world for freight tonnes. You can't get that by turning down freight right?

What is going on with the buildings and structures built for freight at say PHL and SDF after the Menlo purchase? The company was on fire to get those completed asap then.

I remember years ago seeing pallets of palletized freight at PIT gateway from Black Box. This was well before Menlo. That was even before UPS SCS. I had seen freight from Boeing at the BFI gateway before the push into freight.

If freight was the bastard stepchild of UPS then why all the purchases of freight companies ie Menlo? Why build the buildings for freight and forklifts in them? Why purchase Overnight and turn it into UPS Freight? Why spend so much money in Logistics and an ad campaign for it? Why announcing new ocean freight services?

I'll turn on my pm. Send me the managers name that stated that please.

I think you missed his point. He did not say the FDX Pilots were humble; that would be silly and frankly (as the song goes: Lord, it's hard to be humble...) real silly. He said our mangement non pilot shoe clerks are humble. In other words this is a Pilot Forum. If we wanted stock advice we would pay way too much for it. I solved the problem with the Ignore button (as always, please no soya quotes).

The first link is the attorney's website advertising the suit. This website operated by the law firm of Irwin & Boesen, P.C., 4100 E. Mississippi Ave., Denver, CO 80246. The responsible attorney for this site is Kirk Tresemer.

Funny how no State Attorney generals filed suit for the same thing? What about the FTC? They didn't file suit either.

Only one ambulance chaser did. Working for a major law firm I see this stuff every day

Did you notice your links are pr news wires? Do you know what they are? Press releases to fill up empty space or Paid advertisements by the attorney who drummed up the lawsuit

Hit the link provided inside the links you posted.

www.upslawsuit.com

It goes right back to the attorney looking to strike it rich. You know the first link you provided

Get back to me when and if it actually makes it to court. FDX has it's own issues with class action lawsuits.

New service UPS 11 day boat......
