Empire to FedEx?

Empire to FedEx?
I am not sure if this has been discussed before, but I wasn't able to find anything about it. I have an offer from Empire Airlines and I was wondering if anyone knew if FedEx gave any sort of consideration to Empire pilots when hiring resumes.

Empire will say that they have a letter of recomendation that is supposed to get you an interview. This is only after you have had so many years and hours with empire. No one to my knowledge has ever gotten an interview from it. Better chance on your own. I wouldn't go to empire because of their routes. you might end up only flying 250 hrs a yr and that would take a long time to get your hrs in. Also from what I hear it is not the best place to work a lot of disagrement between managemnet and pilots. basically management does what they want regardless of the rules.

I worked at Empire, and got a FedEx interview out of it. I worked for Empire for 5 1/2 years pn the 121 and 135 side.
I work for UPS now, so that tells you how the interview went. When I got the phone call I wasn't working for Empire anymore, but was working for another carrier flying a DC-10.
As far as Empire goes, I had a ball flying for them. I was a Captain on the F when we started flying SE Alaska and loved the work. I flew the 208's, F27's, and ATR's for them. They are like every other company I have worked for in the fact that 90% of the time they are a great company and leave you alone, and the other 10% of the time they will drive you crazy if you let them.

I forgot to mention it in my previous post, the program they have to go to FedEx is called the Executive Referral Program. Kombreck has to write the recomendation and sends it to someone at FedEx.
Theres time requirements for the referral, I don't recall what that was. Its worth asking about in the interview.
