Absent an announcement of a negotiated TA, I would hope that they DO continue through the weekend. The Vice Chairman's Message said they "could."

But, to answer your question, yes, somebody knows if they are actually negotiating through the weekend.

But I don't. ;)

Heard a sob story the other day from a guy on draft trip about all the bills he has to pay. Wah!! Thanks, a-hole.

I hope that if we get retro/bonus pay, that it isn't handed out based on Credit Hours. For those of us that stood the line and didn't fly extra, we would be punished, while the losers picking up trips right and left would get more money. I think it should be based on seat, or even factor in time of service. But not CH!

Hotel rooms were reserved, but we've seen that before - last fall IIRC.

I believe you recall correctly. Twas the first week of October when the Company walked out of the hotel in Norfolk. At least it was an easy commute for Jack.

Well, doggone it, I think you're right.

My mistake - - thanks for fixin' it. :)

I'll have to withdraw my swipe at Jack, huh? OK, I apologize.

Oh, wait, did I just get tricked into saying a Navy town was great?

Every act of resolve is equally effective. Every act of selfish, short-sited greed is equally damaging. Or is it? Some might say the smaller the base, the greater the effect of an act of unity. The pool of wh*res is smaller in the smaller bases and that draft list runs out quickly. Anyone think upper management doesn't hear about a planeload of P1 not making it to Shanghai because they couldn't get a crew to fly it? Anyone would be foolish to think their contribution doesn't make a difference one way or another. Each of our decisions helps a negotiating committee, and it's purely each individuals' choice as to which negotiating committee they choose to help. Your decison matters. Your resolve matters.

Seems like Brown and Purple can stiff the collective for three years or so until they decide they need more productivity and then they take a little or a lot in exchange for a cost of living increase.
They seem far more concerned with what the competitor is doing than what the Unions ask for, and a T/A for Purple may be brought about by the UPS T/A whether voted up or down. First company with a contract has the tactical advantage.
Best of luck to my brothers at FEDEX.

In light of our current situation, that view doesn't seem to be held by either Company's negotiating team. FedEx could have had a contract a year ago, two years ago, why, 818 days ago! UPS could have had a contract before that. No, neither company has shown a sense of urgency to be the first to get a contract.

I know it's tempting to compare our two companies, but in all reality, there are as many differences in our systems as there are similarities. I think we do ourselves a bit of a disservice spending so much time trying to compare one aspect or the other of our contracts. There are numerous elements that must be examined simultaneously to even come close to making a fair comparison. We'd be better off wishing each other well, and then focusing on how to get the best deal from our own employer.

So... good luck!

:)

..Well...if we have to work EVERY Tuesday I've voting "no..." ;)

Thanks to the negotiating team for a great job, and to our line guys who found a way to legally and effectively stick together and send a loud and clear message.

Sorry, I knew it didn't look right, but I was too lazy to Google it.

You are being J-U-U-U-U-S-T a LITTLE premature . .aren't you?

"great job" ??!?!?

HOW do you know? The only detail we have seen is that it is one year shorter than the LAST abomination, which is a slight improvement, but, STILL too long.

For all you know, it might be a POS. And the only option would be to vote it down. Why not reserve judgement?

He likes playing the devil's advocate. If the post had been that the NC sucked he would have launched into the Company

No . . .just "BT-DT" . . . 87% grew weary -or were 'bought off' on the last contract . . 13% of us voted against it, knowing that 5 years was WAAAAY too long for a 1st contract . .because it would likely be upwards of 8 before the NEXT one came into force. Gee. . funny how that worked out, eh? You guys are STILL working under the same rules and pay nearly 8 years later. .almost 1/3 of a career.

I agree with the person(s) who have been stating that the company is only going to 'give' what they think it takes to get 51% to sign off . . not necessarily the best you might have gotten. Y'all be 'critical' out there . .you've waited this long . .if it isn't just a great deal . . don't 'sign up' for another 6-7 years.
