Confusing post for my peanut brain (this early in the morning):

- Posted by "Airbus Flex"

- Thread title asks for 777 headset recommendation?

- Text says I just went to the 727?

Former Flex now on the 777, it is very noisy. (almost as bad as the 727)

Yes,

I can see where you'd be confused. Airbus flex obviously doesn't realize that saying Boeing or noisy at FedEx (at least to you and many others) means the 727. However, the company does fly other Boeings, but I can see where a guy coming off the Airbus, where he's probably been for most of his FedEx career, might not realize that. He never really said he was going to the 727, just that he's gone to the "noisy Boeing." I agree with you that since he's gone to a different aircraft, he should have the courtesy to change his screen name, so as not to confuse guys when he posts.

That said, I'd get a lightweight, over the ear, headset, because once you get to altitude, you're probably going to be using the overhead speakers anyway, except in some foreign countries. Also get one that's inexpensive, or one that you're comfortable losing, because it would seem to me that after landing, having just flown 35 or 40 straight hours, you very well might forget the damn things on the jet, and I can speak from experience when I tell you the good headsets will develop legs and be gone, even before you get out of the limo at the hotel.

I think I am going to get one to keep on the entire time. It is rather loud. I have wear my Bose QC3s once crossing the pond and on CPDLC. I'm thinking about the Bose headset since I also fly little airplanes.

The new Bose QC-15 and UflyMic is fantastic! I had a QC-2 and wore it slap out, took it into the Bose store, walked out with a brand new QC-15 for $90 after the trade in. The UflyMic works in both and the QC-15 is a nice improvement over its predesessor, well worth the $, great for the long commercials as well.

I like my Sennheiser HMEC25KAS that I bought when I was in the real Boeing , flying w/Capt [the barber pole is a goal, not a limit] Klacker. The newest model is the HMEC26. Think you can get an ALPA discount and if you can get a refurbed model you save even more (mine came w/same warranty as new).

Call Bose if there isn't a store near you, they should be able to do the same deal.
