Reserve manning comments

So, up to the holiday it was probably the slimmest amount of reserves on RB that I had ever seen around here, not sure what the other Reserve periods looked like ........................ plus most R day moves were denied. Today we have double on the RB boards, AFTER the holiday ........................ WHO put this mess together ??? I had to "drop R days" to get what I needed from the schedule because CRS "could not support the requested R day moves" thereby making me less available to company for the monthly schedule. What kind of sense is this ................... ??? Guess I need to do my fifty pushups and run some laps before I report for duty ................................

Mix of RA use this time for me. Not much use on the 22nd, very close to max on the 23rd, and maxed out on the 24th. Hit <1hr from RLG when I hit my last day of use - they are getting VERY good at getting VERY close to RLG on your last day.

To better understand the reserve manning model you have to factor in what I think is forecast cost savings from crewmember adjustments.

Drops = decreased cost.
Moves = neutral cost. They would say increased cost because they compare it to the option above.

They want to "encourage" you to drop. This want becomes a policy or restriction. Even if that means selling their souls in the process. Scheduling claims the system won't allow it but fails to mention the system has been rigged.

Manning levels are such that I was involuntarily converted from my RB line to a combination of trips and RA days just hours before secondary lines were published. This is the first time I can remember something like this in my 14 years here. So much for December planning for personal plans. When I talked to Futures, she said eight of us, (CAPT MD11), were converted IAW the contract and it was the first time she has had to do it since she has been building lines. She felt bad about it, but was under orders from management. There just weren't enough regular/VTO lines to cover all the trips. Just another good deal for junior reserve guys.

If you have to ask, the answer is: "Not yours."

Insufficient reserves. Just what the h*ll does that mean? There are not enough trips in open time for the period in question to even come close to max open. What a crock. Ughh......the joys of open time Thursday.
