1-800-all-atps? Fex
Found this on another board and thought it was important.
Their database does not have all the questions that are or can be on the test. Additionally, even if you answer a question correctly, you may get marked wrong as I did. This was explained to me at the beginning and they said they just run the software. The 295.00$ price is way overpriced for what you get. Get the book, study the questions and answers and then go take the test. I got a 94% but should have a 100%. They say "Too bad". Second bad experience with ALL ATPS. |
The folks over at Sheppardair.com were excellent. I used them for the ATP and FEX. 24/7 support and their database was spot on!

Have never heard a bad thing about Sheppardair. He was a Tweet instructor while I was at UPT. Stand up guy...truly loves GA and helping people. Altough I would have a hard time asking for my money back, I think he offers a money back guarantee if you score less than 90%!

Is any place "guaranteeing" a 100? If not, it sounds like this person being overly critical for no reason. Next time study the book for a few weeks and let us know how it goes :)
I had a good experience myself recently at ATP in Phoenix/IWA. From what I understand, there are usually a couple of questions that change slightly from time to time, and they supposedly update the bank frequently. I saw perhaps 2 questions that were not on the prep, but were either common sense or a little different than the prep. I also had a friend get a 100 there with no pre-study and a few hours with the software. Seriously, the fact that you can study for only a few hours, take a test for 30 minutes, and walk out with a high 90 was good enough for me. |
Two words: Sheppard Air/. All questions and 95% after 2 days of prep AT HOME...

I give All ATPs a big thumbs down on test prep.
Back in '94 when I did the F/E written for the first time I decided to use their study course. I believe it was $295. I showed up for the course, they threw me the Gliem prep book and said comeback in 2 days. That was the prep course and a huge waste of money. |

I'm taking it again tomorrow at the Houston location. I'll update tomorrow night. |

I downloaded the Mac software back when the first announcement came about the FDX window opening up, and over the following 4 days or so, studied it off and on. Got a 98% using their software! I only saw two questions that weren't on their prep but those were most likely the new FAA questions that don't count towards, or more important!, against you. So...I'd certainly go with Sheppard Air, if I had to do it again, which I hope I won't. It is $75 (twice as much as some others online) but smaller question bank to study and one doesn't have to be online to use it. Great stuff! |
I did all of my writtens with All ATPS back in the day. It was computer based and got a 99 and a 100. Owner is retired FDX; if you have a problem I'm sure he'll fix it.
|
Tell All ATPS they need to offer a home study program that costs $75. Did my ATP with them and hated the experience, in Chicago. I was told "go sit in front of this old crappy CRT monitor and study for 10 hours". Then took the test. Passed, but what a miserable day. And it cost me $295. Rip off.
Sitting in the hotel on my own time studying was MUCH more comfortable and conducive to learning. Sheppard Air. :) All ATPS. |
Sheppard Air is the way to go...smaller test bank.

Downloaded the program Tuesday, studied in the comfort of my home as much or as little as I had time for, took the test on Saturday and got a 99, and it took me 23 minutes to go through all of the questions. Ive never felt as comfortable taking an FAA written as I did this one! |

My experience with ATP today was not as positive as last time. The room was either freezing or burning up. There were 4 questions that were not in the review. I made a 96% as compared to 99% 6 years ago.

Shepard Air - the only way to go. Best money I ever spent on test prep. They whittle down the questions, and you just review them until you fill your brain. You'll get to the point where you read the first few words of the question and you'll know the answer is "c". Go in on test day and empty your brain. Takes about 20 minutes. Got a 98.

I also highly recommend Shepard. I did ATP 4 years ago for my FE and did pretty well (94%).
When I heard about Shepard air on this forum I decided to give them a try. Since it wasn't a one day thing like ATP I was able to study in my spare time (during my trip on the overnights). What really sets them apart from ATP is the study guide they have. This helps with the questions using charts, graphs, and calculations. After studying over 1 four day trip I took the test and scored a 100%. And it was cheaper overall than ATP. Nothing against them, I just am really pleased how well Shepard air prepares you. |
It sounds like Sheppard isn't too bad.
The nice think about ATP is that you can potentially be in and out of there in one day, both sides commutable if you're reasonable comfortable with the questions (was in the center at 9, out at 3, and I was able to run through the bank numerous times), and you'll never have to put any thought into it before or after. Other than ones you just memorize, there are a lot of questions that are pretty well matched to 121 passenger ops, are common sense, or are easy to understand once looking at the examples. It's not fancy looking software, but it's pretty darn effective. There's no real need to put many days of effort into an FAA requirement of questionable real-world use. |
Add me to the Sheppard Air group.

BDGERJMN, I can't PM yet, but I'm curious about your and anyone else's ATP checkride experience at Sanders Aviation in Jasper, AL. Any info is greatly appreciated.
|
Shepard Air....93% and 14 mins out of my day to take the test. Three days of studying.
|
+1 for sheppard air. Received a 99%, studied for about 6 hours.
|
I'm using Sheppard Air for the ATP written. I'm in the market for the ATP practical. Seen some recommendations on the forum, but couldn't find much about Sanders Aviation. Not too worried about location ... Maine is cold this time of year.

S H E P P A R D A I R ! ! ! ! ! !
I scored 100% twice on the FEX. I did AllATP's one day adventure for the ATP written. That was a pain in the you know where. READ THEIR STUDY PREP CAREFULLY !!!! (FOOT STOMP FOOT STOMP FOOT STOMP) Otherwise you might miss some very good need-to-know downloadable information. |
KC10 FATboy, where did you do the ATP checkride?
|
Emerald Coast recommends Sheppard Air, whatever that is worth. Never heard anything but good things about them from our clients...

Plus One, Minus One
Add me to the Naysayers for All ATP.
I did both my FE and ATP with them. Anything I learned, I learned on my own. In the airplane? Instruction was minimal, and the IP seemed annoyed to be there. The checkride was fine, though. For the written: I missed a question, but upon review thought "Well, that's an easy question and I know that...I must have mis-marked the answer." But discussing with 5 other guys who took the test the same weekend showed we ALL missed the same question. The answer key was wrong. I've never used Sheppard, but will be to get my CFI mil-equivalency. |
I've used shep air for every test FE/ATP/Mil CFI and hands down would use then over all ATPs. I used All ATP once and the zit faced kid gave me a hard time when I went to test for my FE the first time. All they do is let you take as many practice tests as you would like and when you are ready -- you take it. Waste of money and time. Call Shep Air.
|
why do you guys worry so much about the grade being a 95 or 100? do you think its going to make a difference down the road?
