They used age 18 years ago for our class, purple or silver.

Not necessarily...

Some people are more equal than others.

I swam in the pool for a year. One guy, who interviewed the same day I did, got hired after 6 months.

If you are not "special" you get to wait a little longer.

Sorry, but it's the cold hard truth.

Here's some detail from buds who got hired.

Two friends interviewed in Jan and had initial 727 FE class dates of 31 Jul but got pushed back to 15 Aug. Their class was all FE I think. FedEx did use the last 4 of SSN to determine class seniority but they did not reverse it as mentioned in another post. They may do the reverse thing just to mix things up. Neither of these guys got offered the MD-11 right seat (Purple Nugget Program) nor were there any 727 right seats in their class.

Another friend interviewed in early Feb and was offered an MD-11 right seat to ANC with 31 Jul training (he had C-17 experience which is similiar to an MD-11 in some respects). He did not want to commute and could not move due to family constraints and he was given the option of remaining in the pool for a "first in/first out" 727 to MEM. He was initially offered 25 Sep then was called and offered 11 Sep due to a couple of slots opening when others could not make it. The 25 Sep class had a few FO slots while the 11 Sep had only FE. Based on my friends SSN, he knew he would be bottom anyway and had no shot at the FO slots so he took the earlier class.

Hope that helps.

Default Around a Little Longer...

You might say I have been around a little longer. I was in the hub meeting when Fred said, "My desire is to pay you fellows Delta plus a $0.05."

Sadly we are making the Delta plus a $0.05 but only because Delta has taken around a 40% (plus or minus) pay cut.

Anyone have a word on interviews and hiring at FedEx. I'm under the impression that no one is being hired until winter.

I know someone who is interviewing next week. Not sure how many they are doing or if it will continue.

We've hired 65 in the last 6 weeks, 25 on 8/28, 14 on 8/15, 18 on 8/14, and 8 on 7/31. Now that a TA has been reached, and will presumably be ratified, hiring should be steady.

From another Post:

Rumor has it that interviews will ramp up in late Sept. That means hiring will continue. Good Luck to FedEx hopefuls.
