Default FedEx App Questions

1) Anyone know if us part-time (or full time) military guys need to put a conversion factor in for hours? I thought the PilotCredentials site might auto-convert the military specific airframes, but... no. Then I was asked in the questionnaire what conversion factor I used. I was conservative and put none, but my sponsor/endorser and recs have all told me that they remembered a 0.3 hour conversion per sortie.

2) I seem to remember the old site/requirements page mention that RIO, WSO, SIM, FE etc could not be used including "other" time. The prohibition on "other" time isn't there anymore. Are we to include that as well... and where?

3) What are people attaching besides their resume's? Logbook/Flying History Rips, outside recs, current FE written printouts, or medicals? Just curious to see what the consensus might be.

Thanks - and good luck to all!

I asked this question on another thread. General opinion was that if you meet the minimums without the conversion, don't add it in. I think it's .2 per sortie. There is supposed to be a box to click yes/no as to whether you added it. If you didn't and you still meet the requirements, when you get to the interview it's all the better if you didn't add it.

Just what I was told... ymmv.

I can't second this position strongly enough. If you meet the mins w/o the conversion it saves you the headache of having to defend your calculations during your interview. Even if your calculations are accurate it can put you on the defensive in an interview where you are trying to sell yourself.

Just curious, I interviewed with 2 airlines. In both situations, my flying time and/or how I calculated my PIC/SIC time never came up. Did they do this at FedEx?

Thanks for the help ...

I don't remember them spending any more than a minute or two going over my flight times and the breakdown. One of the reasons, I believe, is that by the time you're in the interview, they've already seen your simulator performance and hopefully realize that the instrument flying abilities that you showed in the sim (to get to the actual interview) sort of matches your stated hours.

As well, as has been said many times before, if you are sitting down in Memphis, at a FedEx interview, you do not have to "sell yourself" any more. Just the fact that you're being interviewed means that FedEx intends to hire you, barring anything stupid or abnormal that you might do. So try to smile, look people in the eye, try to be relaxed, and for gods sake, wear matching socks. Oh, one more really important tip: don't, under any circumstances, wear plaid slacks.

Or answer you cell phone during the interview, like a guy a during the last hiring window. I would not believe it but I heard it from the person doing the interview.

NO WAY! Unless his wife was giving birth or expecting a parent to fall ill I can't possibly imagine defending that behavior. Even under extreme circumstance!!!! Did they just stop there and show him/her the door?

Cheddar, The answer is .2 Look in the "questions" section of the application web site. Cheers - Jed

Cut/Pasted from PilotCredentials:

Q: Can I use a conversion factor when determining flight time accumulated in the military?

A: Yes. You may add a plus (.2) per sortie factor to your flight times. Please note that this conversion factor is applied to each sortie not to total time.

I have to go, my cell phone is ringing.

Anyone who digs Greg Noll is hired...if I were conducting the interview. You'd have to prove it by having black/white striped boardshorts though...
