cargo

Out of personal experience what has been the best and most porfitable cargo to fly with? Im just doing some picking to see what areas I should avoid. I want to have someone decent to fly with to build hours. I know it's going to be hard with lower hours but theirs always something out their that is at least half way decent.

It's been a very long day, so please excuse me in advance if my response sounds flippant. Best and most profitable cargo to carry would be loose diamonds wrapped in brown paper bags that would easily fit in your pants pocket. As a frame of reference, the worst cargo to carry is unwrapped spent uranium fuel rods, directly below the pilot seat. Furthermore, the there you're looking for is spelled "there", not "their(s)". Again, I apologize, it's really been a long day.

My personal experience has been that FDX is a pretty profitable company, and is a decent place to work. But, I'm only building about 400hrs per year towards my real goal of getting on with a major.

Well we have to apologize for JJ. You see he's a retired AF colonel and semi retired FedEx Captain. Forced to sit on the sidelines and play racket ball when he's not watching "Regis and Kelly".

I think your question is, "which freight company carries the most valuable/profitable freight, hence, is the most stable and (hopefully ) pays the best".
The short answer is FedEx and UPS. That said, there are several freight companies that most pilots would be very happy working for. Ask around these boards and I'm sure you will find cheerleaders for most of them.
Thank you for your service to your country. Best of luck on your deployment. Keep your head down and get home safe for the loved ones waiting.

You probably have enough hours and experience to join UPS management.

Wow I see I understand where he is coming from.

The best balance sheet and financials in the airline industry (cargo or passenger) belongs to UPS.

That's true, for anyone who happens to still be working there. However, don't tell that to the guys on furlough, because it'll just tick them off. Of course, they already know that, and that's one of the many reasons that they are so frustrated now. How can you blame them. As well, after they did what they did, you have to pause when thinking of working for that company. Admittedly, as everyone here knows, I'm a self-acknowledged UPS disliker, (I made that word up:D). It could be a great job, except for the company management and the company philosophy. The one really great part of the UPS flying operation is the solidarity of the crew force, and that's because they truly need to maintain a united front.
