Deviation Question
Scenario:
Deadhead from Japan.
I want to deviate so I skip MEM on the way home, and go directly to my home airport.
Pairing has KIX-SFO, layover, SFO-SLC-MEM. I don't want to layover and kill another day in a hotel room.
First leg is FC, second is Y.
If I fly two legs, KIX-HNL-DFW in the same duty period, can I fly FC all the way?
I would ask the union, but we don't have a 24 hour contract help line like we should.
Yes, I read the contract, I see no examples of this scenario.

Thanks, here's another question. (sorry, my calendar book is at home)
One option arrives HNL at 0950 and leaves at 6 pm.
Another arrives HNL at 0950 and leaves at 8 pm.
One is a 8:10 layover, and one is a 10:10 layover.
What consitutes same duty period?
I am thinking over 10 and I may have to go business class?
Also, can I get an airport hotel room while I wait around?
Yes, I have the bank.
Thanks!

CBA 8.A.4.b. - A class of service higher than coach shall be authorized if:
i. a deadhead exceeds 5 scheduled block hours; or
ii. a deadhead is included in a single duty period exceeding
11:30; or
iii. the scheduled block hours of a revenue fl ight plus the
scheduled block hours of a deadhead in a single duty
period exceed 8 hours. However, if a domestic duty
period does not exceed 11:30 and a deadhead within
that duty period does not exceed 1:30 (OAG) block, the
deadhead may be scheduled in coach.

Fly FC all the way home. Max layover from an international city is 48 hours. So if your bank will support it, get the room in HNL, relax, enjoy a Mai Tai, fly FC to DFW.
Tell your wife, "Hi Honey, I'm home! Check this sun tan." Check open time for a trip to let her forget your insensitivities.

Go to the ALPA website and look for the ePocket Calendar link in the Quick Links box. All the pocket calendar info pages are in PDF format and packed in a convenient zip file. There's also a iCal file that contains all the bid month info events that you can import into your favorite calendar program.
