Default FDX RAT and SUB

Had an AM OB that got changed to a layover. Was offered a RAT and turned it down to get SUB. The orignal trip blocked out at 0230 and landed at 0600. How do they figure out my assignment window? Mine on VIPS goes from 0330 to 1019?

On a side note what would have happened if I didn't check VIPS and would have showed at 0130? They said they would have called me 1.5 hours prior how can that be? If I would have showed then would I have gotten all the extra pay for Extra duty period and working into your day off?

Your trip becomes eligible for SUB based on 25.H triggers. Looks like yours was due to rescheduled outside a 4 hour window (begin or end of original trip 25h2b) so they were required to offer RAT (125% pay) or you can take SUB.

"short SUB" , less than 72 TAFB) the SUB IAP per 25h3, it is based on 4 hours (or notification if later) early to 4 hours after the show time of your original trip. That is when the SUB trip must "assigned". Then the actual SUB trip must fit within the "SUB window" which is 4 hours either side of the original trip footprint. (if your trip was 0130-0630 show to off duty then the window is 2030 (or notice time) - 1030) so any trip must fit in that bracket. If not they can once again offer RAT but you can turn down.

Use your ALPA pocket calendar for help as well! If you did not answer the phone or just showed up as scheduled, you would have been in the same boat except your sub start time would have "eaten" into the 4 hours prior already. Still same result in the end. When in SUB you can "click" on the green line and a whole display pops up with all the SUB events, limits, assignments etc are there. very handy.
