Default FedEx Colorado commuters?

Question for any FedEx Colorado commuters: Heard it was difficult to commute to Memphis due to a large number of Denver Fedex pilots? How about CO Springs?

times I've gone thru COS, there was a jumper or so, but usually an available seat - there are 3+1 j/s coming back to mem.

FDX28, thanks. Any idea how many to/from flights to COS from MEM? For my SA, what does "3+1 j/s" mean? I'm still in a airline learning phase. Thanks!

3 seats in the back (3), and one up front in the cockpit (1 j/s).

COS, currently is a B757 and that means it has 3 seats in the courier area and 1 actual "jumpseat" up front. Most days that means 4 seats available for booking. COS only has the traditional tue-fri pm flights into MEM (arrive about midnight) and on return from MEM the reverse that arrive COS early am. Most of the COS area guys I know commute out of DEN, due to more flights, both day/night departures and arrivals combined with the ease of using commercial. Many times you need to jump only one way on FDX and the other end would be a deadhead, so much easier to get back to your starting point by having the car at DIA.

Lots of guys in the COS/Front range area, it does take planning as FDX seats are first come first serve and you can book seats as early as 21 days out. Generally only bumped for a/c changes or if some operational issue arises.

Final note, the whole life of a commuter could change significantly depending on the direction the FAA goes on pending FAR changes. Needless to say there are a few directions they could go that would hamper your ability to jump in and operate same duty period. We have some CBA protections on commuting, but they are all subject to the FAA NOT counting commuting time as "duty". Good luck, best way to get the full local story is to talk with the locals when you get hired.
