I just bought more stock.

After all the BILLIONS the company just saved with the newly passed TA and a pilot contract for the next 5 years at least I can supplement my ridiculous COLA with stock gains. More than one way to skin a cat!

"Additionally, it has made a separate order for 15 of the jets subject to the Congress not changing any of the governing laws."

Old news, Fred Smith doing what he does best by playing hardball.

When Congress started making noise about possibly changing the way FedEx operates (ie no longer under the RLA) in order to make it easier for our drivers to unionize, Fred told Washington DC that the orders for all those shiny new expensive American-made freighters would disappear if the law changed.

With the change in House leadership, I expect those 777 orders to go through.

It's the FedEx way ... we give up gains in a TA and management uses the money to buy new jets. We've seen this tactic before

Better than the UPS way. Get voluntary savings from the crew work force via reduced guarantees, leaves of absence, and part-time schedules, etc ...

Then turn around and cancel the program to furlough anyway !

No press release of any new orders. Only thing on the Boeing site is reclassification of 4 previously reported unidentified orders (from April 2010) as now attributed to FedEx.
Unless you can point me in a different direction.
