UPS Mx Manager Program
Ran across this interesting opening through UPS. Can anyone with the company shed some extra light? While in the program are you employed with UPS? What is the pay like while training? (I don't require much, I'm a current airline employee). I'm sure there is no end-of-training job guarantee, but if not accepted for management, can you flow into line or hangar Mx? Thanks for any info.

Its typical ups to bring someone inexperience and green, Give them a quick run down on how things work then make them a manager over looking the tasks that they have no feakin clue of. Let me see, Can u say an ex rj pilot giving 747 over water line checks in ANC. This place is beyond pathetic and sad.

Yeah...this probably is not the place to be asking about UPS or management "opportunities" at UPS. All you will get is negativity (not saying it's not warranted, just simply stating a fact).
There's an off chance someone knows something about the program, but not likely. |
Okay, I was just curious. I couldn't find much through Google, usually there is some info floating around out there.

Back in the early 80's, Eastern ran the same type of an operation. They figured that their managers would be retiring in a few years and that they had better start breeding some new ones. Long term, it ended up not mattering, but maybe UPS is doing the same thing

If you go into management you will never ever be a line mechanic, you will not be in the union, you will sign off airplanes the line mechanics won't, thats why they have you.
|
It's an entry level maint supervisor position. No mechanic on property wants to go into mgmt so they're hiring from outside. You have to sign some sort of contract and make a fraction of what a line mechanic makes. Heard a story about a mechanic that had a payroll problem and when he brought his pay stub to one of these sup's to fix it, the sup quit on the spot when he saw how much less he was making.

They haven't been able to get a captain to go into management for the last 15 years

Answer:_________ Your chief pilot & international chief pilots were both Junior F/O's when they "got the call up". Most of your mid-level, non card signing, ACPs were 40+ year old F/O's who didn't want to wait to make Captain. Most of the ACP hires in the 2000's were off the street, direct into management. |
Ok, for those who want to know, from someone who lived it, breathed it, came in as a mech left as a sup. 16yrs in the tank. If you have NO life, Want someone to TELL you what to do WHEN, think you have a management team you can trust that will NOT lie to you or about you, when the tell you it's OK that's when you need to be extra careful, lips move lies get told. Even if it's on paper it is meaningless. Trust no body. Soon you will see where the trouble really lies, remember **** rolls down hill, trouble starts at the top.....
