the Lurkers are the Voters

Just remember to never base your predictions of a union vote on the sentiment on a forum. On the IPA Bar and Grill, the loud complainers outnumbered the positive, yes leaning posters about 10 to 1. The Lurkers are the Voters, which surprised a lot of our own guys. Their jaws dropped when they found out the T/A passed :D

I'm predicting a 75% yes vote at FDX.

88% of votes cast;)

fecav8r 09-18-2006 05:41 PM

I'll say 92%

Something in the 90's, NC had a lot of creditability and DW doesn't come across as the type to fall to his knees. ;)

The real question should be, What % of people will vote? Hopefully we'll get the same turnout as UPS.

The higher the "yes" sentiment in the crewroom, the lower the turnout will be and thus the lower the actual yes percentage will be.

Not to sound crude, but whose butt did you pull this theory out of? Maybe if I really stretch I could see the argument if we actually had to drive to a polling place, but with mail and internet polling and guys asking each other if they voted, I don't see this argument holding any water. JMHO though.

Not an argument at all. An observation. I voted, I voted "yes" but I don't think we will have 95% because some of the "yes" voters won't get around to voting. That's all.

I feel that UPS had a large turnout because there was a lot of passion between the two sides. It's clear to me that in a perceived close contest, people will feel that their vote is more critical to the outcome.

The "no" side is going to be more passionate on this TA based on comments I've read here.

No matter how easy it is to vote, we have some lazy folks. Ask around and see how many people actually log on to the ALPA/MEC website. I'm amazed at the questions I get that were answered in the lastest message lines. There are a lot of members who are not involved.

Based on some of your comments in other threads about the guys who flew DFT and VLT, I think we are on the same page concerning apathy amongst a portion of the pilots.

The crazy thing will be how many don't vote at all!?
Never understand that.
