Default UPS -Accepting non-union mgmt. positions

I'm sure this topic has been discussed but I'm kinda new to these forums. Is this opening considered a "scab" position in any kind of way?

Technically not a scab. But you should do some more homework ...

If the UPS pilot group ever does strike their company, you will be a scab if you fly while the IPA is on strike ... OR ... UPS will fire you if you do not.

And that isn't in the fine print. Do some research and go from there.

Short answer is yes, sort of. Our FQSs have had to fly into vancouver (a few years ago) and just last month into hamilton when IPA pilots honored local picket lines at those gateways. I don't know if the packages they delivered or flew out with are considered "struck goods" but I kinda think they are.

Now that I'm thinking about it, you also have to consider who you could be working alongside of. Many years ago, I was in shock over just how many of our management captains had their names listed on the Master Scab List at other airlines. A few had scabbed twice. I don't know if any of these individuals still work here.

ok thanks, that's good to know and its what I thought. Does anyone have a clue when UPS will recall the rest of its pilots and begin hiring "regular" pilots?

No idea, our air group has a new sheriff, we'll see if he reverses a bad decision, or if the furlughees are hostages for our next contract. If they are hostages, it will be years before "they" hire again.

Which is a shame, operationally we need the furloughees back already.

Good luck!

Not that I really want to start a rumor, but if the rest rules go through unchanged (unlikely I know) a FQS said that would be about another 500 pilots at brown.

Whats that saying..........when pigs fly. Let me know when that happens. Anyone putting any hope in the NPRM changing anything for the positive needs a reality check.
