FDX MEM training hotel(s)
 

I'll be going to the planet for training soon and remember some rumblings that the company had moved the hotel used for folks in training. I've searched the FDX web site and am unable to find anything "official." The other issue is rental cars. I am currently not domiciled in MEM.

Anyone have any gouge?

What you've never rented a hotel or car before. HOTWIRE.

The company put me at the Homewood Suites at Poplar for 2 months, rental car by Hertz, their dime as I am not MEM based.

If you're not domiciled in MEM, the company will provide you a rental car. You should get an email about this when it gets closer to your date.

Not so fast ghost rider..... Currently this month (June) the hotel for training is Doubletree in Sanderlin Avenue. Across the street from the Fox and Hound. In addition, there is no rental car provided since the hotel shuttle provides transportation to the training sites. If it doesn't work out as advertised, please send in the OPS report. I do miss the Homewood suites and the rental car..:(

Yes, I have gotten hotels and cars before on my own dime, JJ. But that isn't the question here. The point is that the MEMnazis think that you can survive without a car when you are not a MEMphite for something like 3 months.

What I know that if you are not MEM based, and are going to upgrade or transition training, you'll stay at the Homewood Suites and get a car...if your going for recurrent, you're at the Doubletree, with no rental car, just the hotel van. If you're going for one of the short courses, I have no idea what they'll do for you. Good luck with whatever training you going to.

Just to be clear, I'll be going for transition training, so I'll be in Mempho for nearly 3 months, which is a lifetime in human years.

And like every other ANC, LAX, or HKG guy switching seats, you'll get a hotel and a rental car. How many times do you want to hear it? That's what the ANC FO going to 757 left seat in my class got. Also had a hotel for all of IOE, including days off in MEM.
